Windows 10 did an update. New system isn't reading the gpu anymore. Checked the log and says that the Nvidia driver failed to install. Restarted and got a fresh driver posted by Nvidia today. Didn't fix it.

Any thoughts before I reinstall windows?

Update bios. if that doesnt work, remove cmos battery and reseat.

Be sure you are checking your screen when you do this, it may request input on screen without an actual post afterward for the first boot

I've done all that except updating the bios. I just got everything a few weeks ago and thought I kept it up to date but never know.

Bios Flash was a no go. Moved it to a new system and it worked fine. Gonna fresh install windows.

Yeah. I should have tried it lol. New install is up and thanks to having at least games on a different SSD, installing those was quick and painless.

I'll keep it in mind but sincerely hope that there is no next time.

The only MSI program I run is Afterburner, and it sits at 0.4% CPU util. Motherboard vendors are notorious for piss-poor fucking programs and I never install anything I don't have to. I wouldn't even keep Afterburner, but I really need it for the custom fan profiles and light OC'ing I'm doing.

If you don't use Rivatuner you shouldn't have a lick of idle usage from Afterburner.

Unless 100% necessary I never use any active process from any manufacturer/vendor. My only startup programs are Afterburner, Playclaw, Steam, and Borderless Gaming.

Benchmarks for the 1060 coming out, and at least at Founders Edition pricing it's not a good deal, coming relatively even (DX11) or flat out losing (DX12/Vulkan) to the RX 480, which is quite a bit cheaper.

It'll even out a little as 1060's @ $249 become more available, but yeah, generally the 480 wins in this budget category.
