I really wanted the MSI gaming x. The cooler is so sexy. Price tag is ridiculous. Going Asus for the first time. Strix should be popping today/tomorrow.

anytime now Strix...
I can go pick one up at the local Microcenter, but alas, I'm saving every dime I can to buy a co-op, so this will have to wait.![]()
They're on the shelf? I can't find any online, not even that they have arrive ;(
mail me one
nowinstock.net comment section said something about june 12th for strix.
someone else chatted with newegg rep on tuesday and rep confirmed that newegg ordered the cards and are waiting for them to be shipped to warehouse and that they will be made available to order as soon as warehouse scans them in. idk how long shipments take to their ware house, but it is working on 48 hours since that was posted.
oc3d has a review comparing the strix and gaming x. I dont want to pay the extra $70 for gaming x, but at this point I might just buy whichever i can get first.
Review shows them almost identical in framerates down to thge decimal, which i find rather sketchy for two cards to be that similar.

I'm waiting for the Strix purely for appearance. I like the red, but it clashes with the theme
I really like the MSI card aesthetics. And I have mostly only bought MSI cards. So I am happy. Just the price sucks. MSI gouging but Nvidia is gouging even worse.
Extra $100 for reference card. by the time the $599 models come out, they will have sold to their target audience most of their product.
That said, I am still watching for the Strix. If I can order one before I get my gaming x tomorrow, I'm scalping the shit out of the MSI lol. sell it for like $900.
Newegg strix pages says eta 6/13/16
gaming x back in stock.
Saw that. Its been going in and out of stock really quickly, not sure whats up with their inventorying
from tracking things on this site a while. I noticed that most items come in stock like that.
I think it just might be the speed they break down the pallets and transfer items for scanning. Like there might be 30 cards on one pallet, then the next pallet or several pallets later there are more cards. And they just get scanned a bit later.
My guess.
supposedly the gaming x is really not very good and MSI is using some badly bin'd chips in them. when confronted by J2C they told him "If you want a good overclocking card, wait for the Lightning". so far it's looking to OC worse than a ref model despite having 100w higher headroom and a better cooler
I'll return mine if I don't like it.
MSI does seem to be pulling an EVGA and having 5-7 different models for one card.
They will also have the Z model. If that one isnt supposed to be a "good overclocker" either. Idk what to say.
It's likely a sign of a large amount of variance in the quality of the chips coming out from Nvidia. EVGA has so many tiers because it opens up the option for more profit. Breaking the chips up into more tiers, each with a slightly higher price point, is more profitable then just having a simple "below this point is the base model, everything else is SUPEROCBBQ version."
