Software that detects changes and splits scenes from a movie? (for music video creations etc)

I'm itching to make a video of some sort using clips from a film... but, I'm too lazy to go look and split it myself.

However, going over tons of videos on the Youtube, especially anime music videos, I simply don't believe any of the authors has the patience (besides the really olden days of ye olde 2001~2004) splitting each scene manually, there must be software to do so.

I did search for it, but all I'm getting is shareware crap. If anyone has a good suggestion that's preferably free, or even paid for, I'll take it. I know some of you make videos here

You'd be surprised the determination people have. I think I remember people using VirtualDub. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Recommmends to go download DaVinci Studio 12 which is actually free.
