I don't follow DC movies much but I found it hard to believe this was the worst opening in that long. Sadface.

Just got done seeing it. Nothing groundbreaking or awe inspiring, but it was a fun action movie. Ewan McGregor was amazing as Black Mask.

I don't theaters were expecting this to sell well if the fact that they don't have valentine's day showing up yet
So how long until they blame men for hating feminism for the reason why this had such a shit box-office?

After Birds of Prey came out in theaters, some movie goers posted pictures of empty movie theaters claiming no one was seeing the movie. While it’s true that Birds of Prey under-performed in theaters despite strong reviews, fans of Birds of Prey pointed out that the tweets seem like a targeted attempt to prove the movie is unsuccessful.
“Honest question: anyone going to into literally any male-led movie and taking pictures of the empty theaters to ‘prove’ that it’s a flop?? Bc I’ve only seen people do it for Captain Marvel & Birds of Prey,” a Twitter user wrote.
“the way people celebrate that birds of prey had a low opening is sickening, cathy yan and the cast really put care into this movie and have never once said ‘this movie is only for women, men bad’ anyways i hope the crew knows that many of us loved the movie and want to see more,” one fan tweeted.
“You know why #BirdsOfPrey is going to bomb just like #CharliesAngels did? They’ve removed any sex appeal these characters had to appeal to a female ‘girl power’ audience instead of the core male comic book audience. They literally don’t know who they’re making this movie for,” a Twitter user wrote.
“That’s what happens when you have Margot Robbie and the feminist director wanting to stop the ‘male gaze,'” another one wrote on Twitter.
One person upset with movie’s premise wrote an op-ed titled “DC’s ‘Birds of Prey’ hates men, but wants their money – no wonder it’s bombing at the box office.”
“… the women in it are smarter, tougher and stronger than the men, except they have been stripped of their sex appeal in a convoluted attempt to be pro-feminist,” reads the op-ed. “If equality is women making misandrist, hyper-violent, incoherently vapid and dreadful movies, then ‘Birds of Prey‘ is a smashing success for feminism. It is also an abysmal failure for cinema… and probably humanity. It deserves to fail.”
For me honestly, I am still going to watch the movie at some point, but the one trailer I kept seeing on TV didn't seem to make the movie that interesting and so I can see how people weren't drawn to this film.
Critics and cast members. Shit, Obi literally came out saying it was about women empowerment and eradicating misogyny/patriarchy. OK Computer. Anyway, it wasn't a horrible weekend, Joaquin took the Oscar lol.
Except there wasn't any of that in the actual movie, which was my point. Saying it and having it in there are two completely different things.
Hell, for those who don't want to see the movie for afraid of having their feelings potentially hurt, here are all 4 female lead's motivations. Don't click that spoiler if you don't want major plot points revealed.
