So it's not so much the guns themselves, but the way people view the guns? Like, people see it as an easy option instead of a last resort?

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Absolutely. You even see it in our police culture. Many don't just think they have a right to guns, they think they have a right to use those guns in any way these see fit.

People seem to be really blowing the "under investigation by the FBI" thing out of proportion. From what I've read, he was interviewed twice after people voiced concerns, but the feds couldn't prove anything and closed the investigation. Not that it would do much since the NRA feels that owning a gun is more of a right then to board a plane as they have been blocking bills that would keep anyone on the no fly list from being able to legally purchase a gun.

I'm all for responsible gun ownership, but the NRA can eat a buffet of dicks.

I agree that the NRA goes too far with alot of their shit, but even with increased regulations and restrictions this guy's employment would have still given him incredibly easy access to guns.

Even if we went with the magical liberal fantasy land of almost entirely removing guns for civilians, this guy would very likely still have had access given his status as a fully licensed security officer for G4S.

I concur. Yes we need more gun control, but that's a red herring for the real problem which is radical Islam.

I'd rather ban religion vs banning guns.

The terrorist organization that Omar Mateen was linked to attacked the Orlando solidarity march.

Super liberal fantasyland probably doesn't have security guards with AR15s. The police in some countries don't even carry handguns.

It depends on his exact role with the company, but he was likely more then just a "security guard" Edit : NVM I take this back, apparently he was a security guard for a retirement community.

They don't carry guns on patrol, doesn't mean they don't have access to them.

Got into it with a friend on FB (and his friends) who said we were a country of pussies because people aren't attacking ISIS over this. I tried to point out that killing ISIS in the Middle East wouldn't have stopped this particular incident. I kept trying to bring up the LA guy and how he doesn't have ISIS connections. If the Orlando guy got caught, and the LA guy didn't, what would the conversations today look like?

Do not get me wrong, I pointed out in there that I do understand that radicalization is an easy justification for people to perform these acts. But they wildly wanted to ignore the homophobic aspect to the events and that the mentality is not even remotely limited to radical Islamists.

And what happens when a gun-toting bible thumper decides to shoot up a gay club to get rid of more sinning gays? Does Christianity become the problem? Can we ban Christianity plz
