Id be happy if desharnais were traded.

We essentially traded Eller for Shaw if you factor out the second rounders (i know we have 2 seconds in 2017 now). Other than the first 3 months where Eller was on Chuckys wing (Eller is a bad winger, no question), he was mostly relied upon for defensive deployment, mostly playing with TOPTEN, Flash and Byron. Despite that, he put up 22 5v5 points. I have to specify 5v5 because Eller doesnt get PP time. Shaw spent most of his year playing with Toews, Hossa, Desjardins and Kruger (in order), and he too put up 22 5v5 points. So despite better linemates, he put up as many points as Eller. Shaw is also expecting to ask for a contract in the 4-5m AAV range.

So pls explain to me how this trade made the habs better, because it looks like we downgraded.

Not a bad trade for Toronto, Rychel has a much higher ceiling than Harrington. I still have no effing clue what any team sees in Harrington that he keeps getting traded around.

He didn't look horrible for us when he played, but he's like 5th on the Marlies depth chart at this point. Rychel looks like he could be another JVR-type player for us which we desperately need (big power forward).

Also the pick is a 5th rounder and the condition is "if Harrington gets waived AND claimed."
