TO be fair, apparently May has said that there won't be a need for checkpoints as they'll maintain the trade standards from the EU, but the trade structure is currently being debated so I'd take what she says with a grain of salt. This really sucks because flying into Belfast is the easiest way to get to my family's town, but doing that if there are conflicts is FUCKED.

Dublin is like 5 hours and Shannon is 7+ hours. Belfast is only 3 hours.

Just looked it up. You're right, it normally takes 4.

We only went that way once when I was 12 or so and it took 7 hours. I have no idea why. Maybe my parents just got lost.

Except it is. The far fringes of the Unionists and Republicans have been using the feeling of betrayal by Brexit to stoke their followers into further acts of partisan craziness.

The fact that NI still hasn't got a functioning government has been compounded by the DUP who hold the balance of power in Westminster to get May's Brexit shitshow through (good luck there), so see no benefit in sharing power in Belfast.

Which leads to more tensions in NI about local government, national government, Brexit, and sectarian tensions because if it's about anything in Derry you bet your arse it's about sectarian tensions.
