Fight against Calcas and Brinas starts> Draw Fire on Pecil> Multi Break> Bahamut with Rydia> Blood of the Summoner activates> dead.

Just my own curiosity from those that play the JP version but does this game ever get over its "Boss opens with an attack that you can't mitigate/breakdown because we can't figure out how to make a fight challenging without forcing you to start from behind" crap mentality that has been happening too much? I ask because for the umpteenth time I go in and boss opens with a scripted (Delta) attack for 3k on one character forcing me to choose yet again between healing and buffing and hoping that rngesus won't kill that toon if I choose buffs.
So I should be able to bring Edward, Edge with dismiss and his SB, Rydia with lightning summon and thundaja, Cecil for Draw Fire and Cures, and Rosa for mitigation. Debating whether to use Tome or Stoneskin for RW. I fear Shout won't help for mitigation enough.
These situations are actually relatively rare, but annoying when they come up. Most U/U+ fights are restricted to 2 turns of auto attacks or buffs before they unlock their dangerous attacks giving time to set up mitigation. I think next time this happens is in a couple of months when the next FF5 event hits where the U+ boss opens with an AoE that does almost 4k damage lol.
Magus Sisters delta attack was lol, that was the only time they got to do anything before Cecil completely destroyed them.
It wasn't the difficulty of this fight in particular but its the overall number of fights where I load in and here comes some attack that can't be avoided in any way and it can drop a character if rngesus is feeling particularly evil that moment. Garuda's double attack, Bahamut opens with Mega Flare, etc. I get sick of the fight pattern where they force a start from behind scenario. It feels like lazy design to me.
It is lazy design. But if they don't do that the fight is over in like a minute.
I do have to give some credit where it's due and thank whoever put all the ether drops in the 99 trash rounds. It is much easier to spam them to level and master soul breaks when I never have to leave to reset abilities.
will try a mage PT for U+ i hope it won't be as hard as Sephiroth![]()
Sweet, just nailed Fang's RM2 tonight. That's going on Kain.
fuck her tornado
Just a note, the gravity counters from U are not resistable with instant KO resist accessories, so anyone wishing to try to mage mega this beware. Equipped my party with them for no reason thinking it would function like most other gravity attacks lol
U CM mastered with full medals first try with:
Spoiler: show
EDIT: U+ CM mastered, 2 damage medals lost and a few tweaks to my party with:
Spoiler: show
For CM teams on the U+, the damage is a lot more easily managed than U+ sephiroth was between back row draw fire to mitigate asura's hard hitting counters, and keeping fb/mbd on leviathan to keep his AoE damage down while focusing asura, and making sure any buffs on leviathan are removed when asura is dead. Shout or other non-wall RW of your choice is a lot easier to work in this time around.
Asura's Dispel only mode is making this so much more fucking harder then it needs to be for Ult+.....
gonna have to postpone this to monday, too much tornado atm can't do shit
Got Ult+ down to Levi at 30% before Deluge killed me, think i'm just gonna RW Wall so my group can survive and Asura is gonna dispel spam anyway.
Edit: just realized I don't have to switch to Wall, I haven't been using water resist acc lol.
Edit2: And there are no water acc available yet, wtf Dena!?
Problems I'm facing with an IV team:
1) Asura does nothing but Dispel.
2) Asura spams Curaja on herself, countering what damage I've made relative to hones.
3) Asura never buffs so I could meet medal criteria.
4) Asura counters everything, usually focusing on one person.
Basically, Leviathan's been an afterthought and he's only been a threat to my group if I forget to magic breakdown him. If Asura would cooperate, he'd melt pretty quickly.
Edit: And victoly.
Pecil: R3 Saint Cross, R3 Banishing Blade, Holy Might
Palom: R3 Meteor, R4 Thundaja, 2x Cast
Rosa: R4 Magic Breakdown, R3 Armor Breakdown, Mog (Have her Miracle SB to Prot/Shell group)
Porom: R5 Curaja, R3 Slowga, Mako (I have Sync, so yay AoE heal~)
Rydia: R5 Maduin, R5 Ramuh, Summon Damage Up (2x Summon may be wiser, though)
RW: Garnet's Alexander summon (Haste/RES/Regen)
Start fight with Rosa SB, Pecil RW, Porom Slowga, others wait for Protect to be up, then it's just Meteor/Maduin spam with Pecil focusing on Asura with Rosa doing MBD on Levi then ABD/MBD on Asura for more damage. Asura's usually under 1/3 by time Maduin/Meteor run out, so Rydia RWs then defends while Palom starts Thundaja'ing Levi. Pecil and Rosa basically hope they can finish Asura if she doesn't spam cure from there. Once she's down, Rydia rejoins the damage.
Granted, my win didn't see Levi's double water thingy and he only deluged twice. Mastered, fortunately, but also know my A Team would've wrecked this shit.
My CM ult group, no SB and weak sunergy
Tomorrow will do ult + after exps
Well I cannot complete U+ CM atm, Levi just does so much fucking dmg even with Shellga + Magic Breakdown + Full Break, his deluge does at least 2k aoe and he loves to spam it near death, I may try again when I put Kain/Edge/Edward through Sundailies.
Edit: Think i'm going to pass in the future on any CMs that don't involve a full team of lvl 80s (and later on mixed in some 99s), cause its just stupid hard even with synergy/relics to do these fights as lvl 65.
