BMI is a shitty indicator of health.
BMI is a shitty indicator of health.
Not as bad as how you feel about yourself.
BMI is p garbage for athletic people. not many pro or amateur athletes (or even just gym rats) that would be in their healthy range.
You do have to be pretty muscular for it to not matter though - for 95+% of the population it works fine.
That being said, you don't have to be overweight to have a heart attack, especially an unexpected one for a younger person. My cousin had an undetected heart defect and died of a heart attack, she wasn't overweight at all.
Also she had no shot of winning. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...se/florida/17/

did you really just put up an image from an article titled "BMI Is A Terrible Measure of Health" to try and validate BMI
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...ure-of-health/
and unless the adult US population is 1.5 billion your 95%+ figure is pure bullshit, according to the article you tried to mislead the poor bluegartr readers with
Taken alone as an indicator of health, the BMI is misleading. A study by researchers at UCLA published this month in the International Journal of Obesity looked at 40,420 adults in the most recent U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and assessed their health as measured by six accepted metrics, including blood pressure, cholesterol and C-reactive protein (a gauge of inflammation). It found that 47 percent of people classified as overweight by BMI and 29 percent of those who qualified as obese were healthy as measured by at least five of those other metrics. Meanwhile, 31 percent of normal-weight people were unhealthy by two or more of the same measures.2 Using BMI alone as a measure of health would misclassify almost 75 million adults in the U.S., the authors concluded.
for the mathematically challenged that means BMI done goofs with about 1/3 American adults. a strong correlation, sure. wrong a hell of a lot of the time tho.
95+% was regarding people who have so much additional muscle mass that BMI's weight input isn't a valuable measurement. Most people aren't abnormally strong. I'm not saying "only 5% of people who are overweight or obese by BMI are actually healthy" or "only 5% of people who are normal weight by BMI are actually unhealthy".
Just ordered one of those body tape measurers, wish I had done so when I was 212 lbs 7 weeks ago so I could've compared to now at 195 (or hopefully 190 in a month).
I would have guessed closer to 60%
You don't have to have a lot of muscle for BMI to be wrong. Currently 16.5% body fat, and my BMI is 26.2. And i don't look like someone who lifts a lot, i'm closer to skinnyfat at this point.
I'm 195 lbs, BMI of 27.6 (mid-range of "overweight") and I look reasonably muscular (which is accurate). I'm just not trying to pretend that I wouldn't be at lower risk for cardiovascular disease/stroke/diabetes if ate fewer calories regularly and therefore lost 15 lbs and got down to "normal weight" by BMI.

Conservative website AlphaNewsMN.com and the conservative-leaning newspaper the Star Tribune are suing to gain access to Ellison's divorce records hoping to find that Keith has a history of domestic abuse. Both Keith and his ex Kim say that they will fight the lawsuit.
Andrew Gillum is leading the gubernatorial race in Florida by 9 points according to the latest poll. I'm not gonna throw a party over one poll, it if this is Florids only two years after Trump then here comes the tSuNaMi.
