No exceptions, but even the cheapest battery powered Ryobi riding mower these days can mow an acre yard on a single charge.

Do the Tim Taylor method and add more power.

The new law applies to any engine that produces less than 25 gross horsepower, including lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, golf carts, specialty vehicles, generators and pumps. It does not apply to on-road motor vehicles, off-road motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, boats, snowmobile or model airplanes, cars or boats.

Yea, a 26 hp chainsaw. Nothing bad will happen.

I don't think this will impact most homeowners, but I'm not sure about lawn care people. The cost of a fully electric fleet and the setup to rotate batteries would be crazy high.

I have almost an acre and use maybe 20% of my charge to mow the whole lawn with the Ryobi. Lawn services on the other hand, no idea how that's going to work for them.

We need proper incentives for homeowners to parcel off portions of their grass lawns for more sustainable landscaping. Don't penalize people for having lawns, but reward them for giving back the native landscape. Less maintenance, less need for large mowing devices.

Additionally, rip up your asphalt driveway and replace with permeable paving (there are systems rated for firetrucks so don't tell me it's not feasible). This reduces local flooding as more soil volume can retain stormwater runoff and reduce the stress on the storm drains in areas prone to flash flooding.

This assumes your driveway is semi-flat. If you have any kind of incline, permeable paving won't work.

There are designs for steeper slopes, but the stormwater retention is lessened on these slopes, indeed. That's where swales come into play!

ok, I've joined Byrth and am now mildly concerned about the VA gov election.

How the hell can younkin be like "yeah I'm with trump" and this is somehow good for him.

I don't want to vote democrat. I don't like many of their positions, but literally anyone that thinks Trump is okay - or good - and not the end of the fucking republic needs to be opposed in any way possible. So here I go, voting democrat just to avoid putting a fucking trump patsy in office.

What the hell world.
