i enjoy the communal ritual of voting in person and it always takes ten minutes at Cali voting stations. in more restrictive states would prolly hit early/absentee
i enjoy it too but once they started mailing everybody ballots I said fuck it and just started doing that
And there isn't an excuse to avoid voting in California. The state requires your employer to give you up to 2 hours PAID to vote.
Course proving to your employer that you're burdened and need PTO to vote is another story. Technically I could have called out my workplace for not posting the notices. I only let my department know because people need to vote. The California Elections Code section 14001 requires employers to post a notice to employees advising them of provisions for taking paid leave for the purpose of voting in statewide elections. A sample of this notice, as well as a notice to employers regarding time off for voting is available below as a PDF download or, you may call the Elections Division at (916) 657-2166 to order posters of the notices.
Employers must post the employee notice 10 days before a statewide election. A statewide election is an election held throughout the state. For a list of upcoming statewide elections, please visit our upcoming elections web page.
The employee notice must be posted either in the workplace or where it can be seen by employees as they enter or exit their place of work.
Employees are eligible for paid time off for the purpose of voting only if they do not have sufficient time outside of working hours to vote. The intent of the law is to provide an opportunity to vote to workers who would not be able to do so because of their jobs.
My polling station is a block from my apartment on the way to the office. My post office isn't. Plus I enjoy the day-of voting, probably just nostalgia. Our early voting centers in the city are often PACKED. I rode past one during the 2018 midterms and the line was wrapped around the city block.
Maybe like a half-mile drive to our station. Usually not too bad, but the worst part of it is my dad refuses to get a wheelchair, they don't have any on-site, and there's a lot of walking involved even parking at the front door. So by the time we're loading him in the truck, he's practically crying.
If they really wanted to get rid of DeSantis, idk why they put Crist back in the ring. Dude has ran for office as a republican, an independent, and democrat all in the same career lmao. They basically are handing DeSantis his reelection with this one
Just got a flash flood warning pushed to my phone
Happy election day!
just dunk your face in icewater if you're having a bad time

Florida Democrats fucking blow. I tried fam, but y'all keep sending your affluent Republicans to Florida to retire and well now look at us. Nothing I can do but keep the vibes going until this ass tries running for President. Rubio is sticking around too...God I'm so tired of this states politics

I mean, considering the state of global warming and the yearly hurricanes that Mother Earth sends your way, the ocean may well swallow Florida before Rubio loses. So you might not have to deal with Florida's politics for much longer.
