Both things can be true, but we will see. The problem for the last decade+ is that all people who are serious about responsible governance are members of the democratic party. Some seats are safe R seats not based on policy positions, but political religion. Meanwhile, there may not be any "safe D" seats if you pick the a candidate that enough of the base doesn't find meets their definition of serious about governance, which could be anywhere from conservative to liberal based on the person and, in median, the state.

Since 1979, Republicans have been elected to a total of one Senate term in Michigan. We'll get to find out if that's because the dems that ran were milquetoast neolibs or not soon.

I thought it was like 65-70million by the end of it? Glad that wasn't used for help out schools or anything else. Or maybe towards victims of the Israeli genocide O:

Oh, yeah you're right. They did spend more lol

I can't even keep up with how many millions and millions they're spending on candidates. I know they spent a record number on ousting Thomas Massie too

AIPAC's super PAC spent about $31 million by itself. Add in all the other outside, out-of-state, money and the total comes to around $60 million.

Lindell really needed this grift. It's speculated that he may run as an independent to keep the grift going.

Statewide total, for both parties, was roughly 1.1M. That is about 200k more than the previous record set in 2018.

not to give too much hopium, but remember these numbers don’t include independents, which polling shows are largely anti-trump policy

I'll say it again: if he can't win the general, I'll gladly eat my words. But if he does, I want people to stop pushing the idea that Democrats have to run to the middle to win. Michigan is a purple state, so if he wins here, it's the perfect litmus test that a more progressive candidate can be competitive with the right message.
States are not similar just because of their tint. A state's tint is mostly a result of its urban vs. suburban vs. rural dynamics. Urban and rural voters are a turnout game. The suburban voter is the mythical moderate that everyone wants to sway.

Progressives play well in states with deep blue pockets -- where the cities themselves are large enough cities to carry the state even with an unfavorable suburban split. The whole idea of progressives scaring away moderate voters is based on those suburban voters.

There's a big difference between Michigan and Wisconsin in that respect

    Michigan Urban Vote: 5,512,000 (83.5%)
    Detroit: ~3.78M
    Grand Rapids: ~606K
Toledo: ~498K (yes enough of it crosses the border with OH)
    Lansing: ~318K
    Ann Arbor: ~310K

    Wisconsin Urban Vote: 3,044,000 (70%)
    Milwaukee–Waukesha: ~1.575M
    Madison: ~709K
    Green Bay: ~335K
    Appleton: ~249K
    Eau Claire: ~176K

This should not be surprising. MI is the 10th most populous state. WI is the 21st. The thing that makes a state large is generally their cities.

Or think about it another way, Michigan is far more rust belt whereas Wisconsin is more midwest. Only Milwaukee counts as the rust belt whereas all five of those cities in MI are squarely inside it.

“The ascendant far-left is hitting turbulence in the Midwest, where voters are showing that the big victories they have had in deep blue pockets of the country are much tougher to secure in purple areas. While progressives have been gaining ground in races across the country, the mixed results show that there are limits on the movement and its appeal outside of major cities.”
