I didn't realize how bad the input delay is on this cheapo desk TV I've had as a backup for years until this SNES Classic. So much easier to notice on a 2d game vs. analog stick 3d.

At least an 1/8th of a second delay. Not enough to ruin me, but still noticeable when my character isn't turning instantly on the button press.

Cost of all original FX Games have gone up, ironically. Stunt Race FX and Star Fox used to be in the wild for about 3~10$, now is 18~25$ a cart.

The mass destruction of FX carts to create Star Fox 2 repros is underway.

They are somewhat easy to make, if you are willing to sacrifice an FX game as a donor cart. Also requires moderate soldering skill. There now exists an SFX Adapter Board, designed by RetroStage which has hyper simplified the process -- as easy as removing the MASKROM, soldering the adapter board on, and a freshly burned TSOP on top of that, set the jumper and you're good to go.

Maybe a 45 min to 70 min job depending on how well you can (de)solder. The older method is way messier, time consuming and you'll have to solder a good deal of wires into the board as well. Closer to the end of this month, I'll be making a repro of this as well as other JP games, if anyone is interested.

How do you know those won't add lag?

I mean, the only thing i can go by is the fact that they're powered, but this probably beats playing on my laggy ass TVs.

Powered vs. unpowered doesn't determine lag. If anything, powered devices would be more likely to have lag, as lag is caused by signal processing (that is less likely to be present in unpowered devices).

Buying that splitter won't really help if the lag it adds makes your low-lag monitor equal to your high-lag television. It looks like you already have another low-lag display (with busted speakers) that you use for fighting games... sorry to say it, but your only 100% effective option is to buy another one (or have those speakers fixed).

Either way speaker's aren't good enough for me to have the full effectiveness of the sound i like to hear. I mean, all i am seeing is that this is just an audio extractor, nothing else, while i'm not knowledgable on these things, i kinda have no idea why this would cause significant amounts of lag. I can try to find another solution, sure, but i'm not looking for an unbelievably expensive option when i just purchased the snes classic.

As I mentioned, lag is due to signal processing. I can't say for certain, but it seems to me that - unless your monitor has HDMI out like some of the newer streaming-friendly displays - extracting the audio in-line would add some processing time, and therefore lag.

Only one way to find out, I suppose.

For those that had the euro version pre-ordered because you couldn't get a US one or liked the look better, mine came in yesterday which was a full week earlier than expected. I proceeded to get wrecked at megaman X.

So far I have done work on Yoshi's Island, Contra 3 (ok only 5 of 6 stages), Castlevania 4, and MMX. Poochy Ain't Stupid got me all honed in again, and MMX skills are too engrained from childhood.

I won a pretty damn sloppy 50cc Mushroom Cup before deciding that will take some time to get those handles back.

I don't know how to play Super Punch-Out or Street Fighter well and may never open those titles. Also not into Starfox at all and will forgo it indefinitely.

I've never (or barely) played either Kirby title, FF3/6, Earthbound, Secret of Mana, Ghouls n Ghosts, Metroid, or F-Zero but want to learn up those games, especially Super Metroid.

Contra 3 stage 5 boss feels like 2005 Dynamis Lord, god damn. Is the official strat really to use invulnerability frames and about 5 lives?

Sometimes I meticulously avoid all the dizzy like a sober Jack playthrough of BioShock, wrench-smashing all the alcohol. Other times I touch all the dizzy I can and then see how long the drunken stupor lasts. I have high score OCD and require scoring 100 every level, so I've already had some rage moments from losing stars near the end of a level. Yoshi's Island is an excellent title that remains excellent even with its annoyances.
