Mastered CM with the maria BSB RW method, 1 action and 1 damage medal lost

Setup was:

Maria - Meteor r3 / Faith r2 / Devotion
Minwu - Curaja r5 / Shellga r3 / Doublecast
Leon - Sleep r5 / Armor Break r5 / Auto Haste
Josef - Magic Breakdown r4 / Mental Breakdown r4 / Auto Haste
Gordon - Sleep r5 / Haste r5 / Auto Haste

RW - Maria BSB

No SBs were used, everyone had ice resist accessories on. Had an 8* of minwu's SSB staff on Maria and was able to spam command 2 for 19k AoE.

Maria BSB def. the way to go. I forgot to bring some sort of def down, so lost 3 medals on that, but was still able to master without any other medals lost with this setup:

I got everything to about 30% using Maria BSB strat until AoE's wiped me out.

Dumped Sleep Buster on Firion in favor of Sleep spell. So thats him and Leon going at it at 30% instead of 10 and 30.

If I keep getting assblasted by AoE, I may dump Mental BD on Gordon for Magic BD. Just relying on shell and FB.

I used armor BD and spammed flashing blade under Shout. Needless to say between that, lifesiphon, and pound, the battle was pretty easy.

RW's Maria's BSB and went with a mixture of magic/physical. Took two casts of the RW + max usage of the defend ability, but killed it np.

i went back with gordon, minwu, krile, tyro and kefka and obliterated it to get the mastery motes. mag+90% is pretty good!

Tried it with firion and indomitable blade; no good, couldn't DPS enough while staying alive.
Did it with maria bsb but it was ugggggly. I needed to resleep the mobs midfight but couldn't time it so I had to wake them with sleep buster and hope for another sleep proc, and queue sleep to land right after in case it didn't (and it usually didn't). 50% chance of failure even devoting two dudes to sleep duty is pretty awful. Thank god it's done.

So glad to be done with that. I know Ifrit was way overtuned, but this was the 2nd most difficult one. Switching Mental BD for Magic BD on Gordon made all the difference in dealing with Scourge and AoE spells if he got spammy.

Easy and no medals lost. Gordon on Magic Breakdown+Full Break duty (with shared Shellga), Minwu with Curaja and Haste, Leon and Firion with Sleep, Maria nuking the shit out of them. Ogres slept the whole time.
Never thought Firion's Black 1* would be useful but here he is lol.

So i'm having a hell of a time with this one here. With the fact the soul absorbs all but earth, wind, and non elemental magic, i've been going with Cloud/Terra/Aerith/Ramza/Tyro, and having Terra AOE, Tyro attempt to sleep with sleep buster, Ramza doing full break/magic breakdown on everyone, and Cloud building up soul break charges so I can spam his burst and still getting pummeled. Meteor/Ruinga are only doing about 3-5k dmg each.

Humm, I'm having issues with the Maria strat. I think I'm doing enough damage. If anything I can still do 9.5k~ even without Mental Break. But I'm still dying to AoE spam. My best run had me kill the red soul but die to the mages right after. Mind you I had to use the Command 1 to kill the red soul faster to even do that. Otherwise, if I just do pure Command 2 AoE, I die roughly at the time I need to reapply BSB.

Is your strategy to go sleep mages -> RW and kill red soul -> resleep mages -> RW to kill mages? Because you won't have haste when it counts at low hp in this setup nor magic lure. I had haste and will of the white mage and it was still really hard to keep dudes up.

The mages shouldn't be waking up, you can do sleep buster->sleep to get two shots at resleeping them before timer is up. Maybe bring a heal and or haste on gordon. I think leon's better here than josef because he can carry a sleep 1 (so he won't wake up the ogre) and something else, and firion can carry sleep buster+sleep. Full Charge isn't going to do anything.

Maria BSB strat can do 95% of the damage alone. Everyone else should be supporting the burster (2x healers, 2x sleep casters) or debuffing (MDB/FB/Mental BD).

Most of the time I just can't get sleep to stick. Others I can't do enough damage.

Looks like I pretty much die right after it reaches weak form via mass AoEs.

Eh, finally, beat it. I did what you ( possibly implied ) said and just BSB zerged the soul first. 2nd BSB ended up running out when both mages were at 40% but 4 meteor casts were barely enough to finish them off.

Use double Sleeps instead of Sleep Buster otherwise only one character is able to reapply without waking them up. Firion+Leon on sleep duty (spam it, keep the Ogres asleep the whole time), everyone else is there to support Maria and her AoE BSB spam. Also give Maria the FFII MAG accessory, go all out. Put Shellga on Minwu and Faith on Maria, you shouldn't need anything else and the lack of Magic Breakdown is killing you here. Should also consider Haste if you have a shared Shellga, helps a lot with some luck in double casting WM.

Yeah, I ended up tweaking my setup in the last 20~ min and finished it. But as you said, I should have just made another Sleep and used that instead of Sleep buster.

Most likely 2-3 days after the ultimate drops for FF3, so around the end of the month or start of next.
