There was once a day and time, many a moon ago, where wikileaks would vet and redact information for reasons of civilian safety or civilian privacy. Since that time, however, they've published the names of thousands of afghan civilian informants and published the names, social security numbers, credit card info, and passport information of unsuspecting DNC workers who had nothing to do with the DNC issues. They're wreckless, Assange publishes nonsense and doesnt give a damn about transparency near as much as he cares about getting his name out.

id feel pretty confident that Snowden would have the fucking sense to vet the documents himself before he leaked them, and not leak irrelevant private information of unsuspecting innocent civilians.

There was non email stuff that was dumped. The donor information was just raw excel files pulled straight off the server I believe

Pulled off the server or was contained in emails? I tried reading about it, all the articles are pretty vague. One said it was a password protected (prob zip or something) "cache" of excel files etc... Another article claims there was Trump donor personal information in there as well. All pretty interesting, I assume wiki leaks is saying they don't edit anything at all no matter what? Can't say I fully agree w that logic, can see where they are coming from I guess.

There was a lot of sensitive military information that Snowden leaked which had nothing at all to do with questionable government surveillance, but I guess at the very least you can give it to him that he didn't leak private persons' SSNs and credit card #s.

Like Tyche was saying, back in the day wikileaks would edit out potentially dangerous information. Why they don't anymore I have no idea, since editing stuff out was actually something keeping Assange and others from getting merced, since said information wasn't edited out in the Deadman switch safety dumps they send out. So if Assange or whoever got taken out EVERYTHING would be out in the open to see.

And my understanding of the DNC stuff specifically is that it wasn't just an email hack, but full access to said servers. The specifics on how they got said access is currently unknown to the public.
