Best case car crash? Trump says something patronizing to Hilldog, gets roasted and later fact checked, generalizes and insults all women, before rushing to Hillary's side after she faints, taking the podium on the chin as she falls.

Just dawned me we've seen a Hillary debate performance about half a dozen times so far (all pretty strong), and we've -never- seen a Donald debate performance (the circus that was the republican debates don't count, and Donald straight up just didn't go to any of the later ones).

I have no idea what to expect. He'll no doubt be coached on several issues, but this will be interesting. I really hope Hillary can break him out of his BS talking points and get him a little flustered, that or the moderators fact check him.

The real question though is, what happens to the political landscape when this is all said and done. 4 years from now will the congressional gridlock facing this country be the same/worse/better. The USA is in desperate need of some vision and unity to get people back on track and working toward a common cause.

Though it really seems like that is far away. :/

imo he won't be able to handle any of the coaching he's received, whether it's any good or not.

to me all this talk of expectations are overblown. he's never had to debate anyone remotely capable one on one and she should be able to clean the floor with him if she's on point.

I know it is a totally different audience, but isn't this the same thing said by pundits throughout the primary season? One where he earned more votes than any republican nominee to proceed him?

Now I don't think he is going to show up and steal the show, or that this is going to be anything like the primaries, but that sense of over-confidence is what will build that wall on our southern border... if you know what I mean.

Pretty fascinated by how this may turn out; I'd like to say playing it safe would have been enough for Hillary, but not so sure right now after the latest polls. She's far more polished than Rubio, but sticking to the message too hard is not always the best choice (see glitch Rubio); really depends on your opponent's tact. Seems like Trump's team has been cultivating a more "presidential" image lately; I have a feeling there will be less fireworks than some are anticipating.

his primary opponents were awful in the debates and dropped the ball completely. the whole thing was a gigantic shitshow and often times he just sat back as the others fought with each other. mostly he was never really held accountable for the things he said by his opponents. hillary should be able to dog him the way others couldn't.

In the primaries Trump came in with pot shots and counterpunches, but then backed out when the other candidates talked about governance. Because the stage was so large, it wasn't a problem that he wasn't seen engaging in the "boring" part of the debate where all the substance happened.

But seriously, Trump has never had to do something like this. The primaries he had to speak, what, 15 minutes total, maybe, with lots of breaks in between to hide/gather his thoughts. He'll be speaking 40+ tonight on a variety of topics, with timers that will seem daunting if he can't intelligently fill the 90 seconds he receives on a particular topic. There will hopefully be followups, pushing him on vague and/or nonresponses, and Hillary is a pro at this, she should be ready to pounce when he falters.

90 minutes is a long time for someone with Trump's attention span. He may be as good in minute 70 as minute 5, but we don't have much evidence to suggest that. It'll be very important for him to get out to a good start, while social media is trying to write the winner and loser in the first half hour.

This is exactly how I feel. What's worse is the idea that this debate may not change any hearts at all, and could still be a complete shit show regardless.

I feel like the world will legit end in 3 hours or something before this debate happens.
