However, 2014 was the lowest murder rate since WWII (and maybe better than any time in US history), and going up 11% from there still puts us in a historically safe position.

    To put it another way

When Trump talks about our inner cities being like 3rd world countries and how you can't walk down the street without being shot, it doesn't conform to any sort of measure of historical safety whatsoever.
When Trump talks about inner cities being like 3rd world countries he's also alluding to the "Fear of Crime" where you may not be witness or be victim of crime but you walk around some of these under-privileged/poorly maintained neighborhoods and have an inherent fear that SOMETHING might happen. I believe it's the Broken Glass syndrome or something to that effect. However in this very case simply adding more police does absolutely NOTHING to solve the issue. I don't believe any candidate wanted or knows how or wants to know how to fix it. I thought Hillary was running the same line of add moar law and order. How about investing in them (is that what she said or did she say that about the middle class)?

Johnson is a pretty terrible Libertarian option. Hell is running mate was caught throwing a gifted gun into a trashcan and has openly stated being against guns.

He's the best option for a chance at mainstream appeal though. I watched the libertarian debate and man they're fucking delusional lunatics.

The best part of the debate yesterday to me is that he talked about Chicago. He is the only one to talk about it, and no useless politician here(or anywhere) wants to talk about it especially Rahm.

People are under the illusion that the Libertarian Party is a viable option because this year the Lib ticket is more establishment Republican than the actual Republican ticket.

Remember that the Libertarians booed Johnson at his own nomination convention because he said he would have signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Because while Libertarians ostensibly believe in no government interference with your private life, they don't want the government having anything to do with guaranteeing those rights for you since that means taxation and taxation is theft.

The fact that it's increasingly hard to tell the difference between the GOP and the Libertarians isn't about the Libertarians being ready for prime time, it's about the Republicans becoming increasingly fringe. It's an indictment of how crazy the GOP has let their base become.

So, Trump hates NAFTA, which was THE political issue in the 1992 presidential race.

Anyone know who Trump voted for in '92?

No, but a 2011 article said he'd missed 3 general elections in the last 25 years and changed his party registration 3 times.

So your question would be the follow-up to "Did Trump vote in '92?"

The conspiracy theories on the_donald right now are beautiful.

It was known that Hillary had a custom podium for the debate, supposedly just with a lifted step so she would appear at roughly the same height as Trump. People are now claiming though that there was a tablet installed in the podium feeding Hillary answers and talking points.

    I love the Internet.

Not to mention he's vehemently against paid maternity leave.

Echoing fuck Johnson. Another case of people just taking easy to digest sound bites as the entirety of what a person is while doing no actual research.

    Dude is nuts.

North Carolina: Clinton 38%, Trump 35%, Johnson 6% (Meredith College)

Ohio: Clinton 40%, Trump 37%, Johnson 8% (TargetSmart)

Plus another poll showing that people care little about electable qualities like preparation and mastery of policy. Morning Consult shows found a win for Hillary Clinton 49% to 26% with 26% undecided. But only 9% of voters said the debate changed their minds about who they will be voting for.

Straight up: This election cycle has reminded me of all the things I've hated about Hillary for the last 20~ years, and I find her a repugnant personality. I find her politics abhorrent.

With that said, I'm voting for her without a second's hesitation, because in every metric by which I find Hillary lacking, Donald is not only worse, but proudly, gleefully worse. Hillary's policies and mine clash on a fundamental level so extreme that there's likely no real reconciliation between the two, but I've little doubt she comes by them as honestly as she is able. But while I believe that her policies are destroying the very people she wants to lift up, Donald isn't trying to lift anyone up-- he's fleecing the poor for as much as he can, and he's *PROUD* of it. He *BRAGS* about it.

Hillary is, perhaps, mildly in bed with Wall Street-- she has more endorsements from major Fortune 500 companies than Donald has-- but really, that's not proof of anything. If nothing else, even the most strident Hillary-hater has to concede that playing the game of, "I can't give you this, because I promised it to him, but I'll give you that even though he really wants me not to" while all-the-while doing exactly what she wants is the easiest thing in the world. She has so many supporters of so many different viewpoints and perspectives and political leanings (including Buffet and Gates), that access doesn't give you pull; at best, it gives you the opportunity to present information she hasn't had yet, but as long as she's been in the game, and as solidly left-ward as her politics have been for 35 years, you're willfully delusional if you think she pushes policy anywhere except where *SHE* thinks is best.

Donald, we know, doesn't care about what's best, except what's best for The Donald. He'll buy the bank that holds the mortgage on your home, and then foreclose the second you're late if it would give him a mild chuckle, and then he'll run the business you work for into the ground, pay the fines for illegal practices from his "charity", fleece other charities to foot *that* bill, and then use what's left to bribe the DA not to prosecute. *AND THESE ARE THINGS THAT ARE KNOWN*. This isn't guesswork-- *THIS IS WHAT HE DOES*.

There is literally, in no objective view of reality, any possible situation in which Donald Trump is not *even more* of an insider than Hillary. There is literally, in no objective view of reality, any possible situation in which Donald Trump is not *even more* beholden to the greed of Wall Street than Hillary. There is no possible viewpoint which holds him as less corrupt, as less violent, as less self-serving, as less dishonest, as less power-hungry, as less hateful, as less destructive, or as more qualified than Hillary. Literally the only possible case that anyone could make is the Supreme Court, and as someone who would like a moderate, olde-timey-Constitutionalist court (rather than Warren-Court styled-activists), even that's no where near enough to even give me pause in unquestioningly supporting Hillary over Trump. And I am still proud of my two Bush votes, of my McCain vote, and of my Romney vote.

I honestly cannot fathom how anyone to the left of me-- or most people to the right of me-- is not enthusiastically behind Hillary. The *ONLY* possible metric in which Trump is preferable is the one area where almost everyone to the left of me sees that as arguably the biggest reason *TO* support her.

My mind is utterly blown that Gred should still have to be trying to coddle your delicate sensibilities.

Fox News has to think about its future after the election. I also think they don't want a repeat of the 2012 "unskewed polls" embarrassment.

They gain far more from a Democratic win than a Republican one.

If Hillary wins the next 4-8 years will be how and why she's destroying the fabric of our nation in all the ways no one else will tell you.

Their demographic is fear-based and the Clinton family has been their biggest boogeyman for 20 years.
