I found this to be a good explanation of why Trump speaks the way he does.

There is no real, stable belief underneath it all, no true answer to the question of what Trump believed, or believes, about the Iraq War. It’s like asking whether a rainbow was "really there" before the water droplets, light, and observers lined up just right.
    This was almost....poetic.

    lmao

Washington (CNN)Howard Stern confirmed Tuesday that Donald Trump expressed support for the Iraq War on his radio show in 2002 -- a claim Trump has denied despite a show recording of him offering at least measured backing.

Congress is already admitting they should've looked at the JASTA bill more.

McConnell explained that lawmakers were very focused on the needs of the 9/11 families and didn't take the time to think through the consequences.
"Because everyone was aware who the potential beneficiaries were, but nobody focused on the potential downside in terms of our international relationships. And I just think it was a ball dropped," McConnell said. "I wish the President -- and I hate to blame everything on him and I don't -- but it would have been helpful had...we had a discussion about this much earlier than the last week."
FFS guys. Admittedly, I'm not as familiar with the legislative process as I should be, but the bill wasn't hundreds of pages long. How could you not take 10+ minutes to look at it and think about the consequences of it? Of course nearly all of Congress is guilty here since it passed near unanimously.

    Adding a new favorite quote.

"What's true in elementary school is true in the United States Congress: ignorance is not an excuse," Earnest said.

Did McConnell just blame Obama for a bill he VETOED? And hasn't Obama been threatening to veto this thing for months and months?

Back in the political real world (meaning Capital Hill, not this pres. campaign) that is still some really rich shit right there. LOL

it's probably the worst kept secret on the Hill that Congress members do not read the vast majority of legislation upon which they vote, instead outsourcing that job to their staff and voting on a generalized perception of any given bill

Understandable, they're all too busy with their real jobs: funding their next re-election campaign.

It was a reasonably well-laid trap by Hillary, but at the same time it should be 1 bad news cycle and he's turning it into a week's worth.

A big part of what I did on the Hill day-to-day was read anything someone had put forward to the Congressman and write up a 1-page review on its contents and whether or not we should support it. The goal was that the Congressman could go into any situation and speak about it semi-intelligently with 5 minutes of prep time.

Pollsters don't weight polls by stated party affiliation. They weight by demographics, party affiliation is an artifact of that at the end. When news cycles are good for one party, more "independents" will report as that party than when it is bad for that party.

While I can't speak to this anon's experience, it feels like a fundamental misrepresentation of how legitimate pollsters work.
