Can't speak to much of the rest, but Dr. Drew sounds like a moron about the Warfarin (I'm on it). There are newer medications (I looked into them extensively because of the monitoring requirement of warfarin), but none have been studied as long as Warfarin. There is no known fast-acting antidote to them in case of an accident requiring surgery. Warfarin simply needs a dose of Vitamin K (found in spinach, cabbage, etc.) to counteract it.

Warfarin has an antidote, and it's cheap, and it's very tightly dosed with regular anticoagulant studies. The only reason eliquis, pradaxa, etc even exist is because warfarin prices dropped so significantly in the 90's and 00's that manufactures looked for a drug to replace it. Such as the case with xarelto. It's super easy to dose, so much so, it's a bit dangerous (could argue that it should be taken twice a day as opposed to,daily, but it's more difficult to market twice daily drugs), has no antidote, and you just gotta kinda hope the standard dose works for you, as that is what has FDa approval. Dr Drew is fucking stupid. Or partisan.
