Actually I've brought up this argument before.

Let's assume that Hillary's motivations are completely egoistic and self-serving. She's only in it for herself. To Hillary, helping people is merely means to an end. But what end?

It's clearly not just money; if all she wanted was money, there were a lot easier and more direct routes than politics. Power is more likely, insofar as the Presidency is power. But after her re-election campaign, what then? If she's only out for Hillary Clinton, what would Hillary Clinton who has just won re-election in 2020 want?

I think the only logical answer is to be remembered as a great President. In that respect she will likely be measuring herself against Obama and Bill, and she will ultimately measured by the good she does. She has a vested interest in leaving a legacy; I'm dead certain that she doesn't want the only thing remember about her as a President was being the first female President.

So does it matter if she's doing it for herself, or for the people she helps, so long as she helps them?

The amount she will help people will be the bare minimum to make it appear like she cares.

Trump has come out and stated - not speculation, not reading into things, not taking words out of context, not been accused of by other people - outright stated he's got no interest in upholding the 4th, 6th, or 8th Amendment, and for someone who's only where he is because a grossly irresponsible media put him there, a pretty clear disdain for more than one aspect of the 1st. Oh, but he's going to stand up for the 2nd Amendment! Because we can't have a single fucking conversation about the Constitution in this country anymore unless it's about that one, screw the rest. So serious question for you - 8 years of Obama later, how many times has the government come into your house and taken your guns? You pathetic fucking sleaze. Donald Trump has no respect for human rights, for business, for people, he has no understanding of the economy or of global politics or the Constitution, he doesn't know anything about the military, he certainly doesn't know anything about the middle class, let alone the poor. But most importantly for the sake of this conversation, he doesn't know anything about being a Republican, or conservative values. He's a pathetic, attention-seeking craven coward of a man, and the people who follow him even more so because they look to him as an alpha. Because that's all you and the people like you are - spineless, ugly worms backing a man who has no interest in serving any of the things you've claimed to stand for in the past simply because he completed another successful con and took over the party you identify with.

The whole narrative of the Republican campaign this time around is "beat Hillary," not "elect Trump" because they know that's a losing proposition and you've fallen for it completely. You don't have any conviction, You don't have guts. You just have blind loyalty to a man who couldn't give a shit about you if he tried. What makes you so stomach-turning to me is that you've revealed that you don't actually have the backbone to stand up for what you've claimed to believe in, because if you'd see Trump doesn't care about any of it. When I'm President I'll still represent people like you and I'll do my damnedest to do it well, but if you don't agree with my platform I sure as hell don't expect you to vote for me just because of my party affiliation.
