There's an ipsos poll out that shows Clinton+3 in MN, and 538 has them at a +2 clinton bias so shows it as a +1.

I didn't cite his position on policy; the only relevant thing to consider is whether or not it's reasonably likely that he knows a former Republican official and whether that anonymous official is making a reasonable summation of the situation.

If the shit spewing from the people in my hometown is any indication of what trump supporters are capable of, politicians do have a credible reason to be fearful of their safety. These are the same people who think it is ok to talk about "killing that nigger in the White House". They really are deplorable and the only thing stopping a large portion of them from acting is the mental capacity to plan something out and execute the plan. Call it anecdotal but I have personally seen it and it scares me even though I am not the target of their vehemence and hatred.

Charges were dropped when the cops completely botched the investigation and contaminated the crime scene so badly that most of the evidence was thrown out. That means this fucked up dude is still out there and may very well be the next news story about a gunman targeting politicians ala Gabby Gifford.

To be fair the only person out of this entire hate filled election cycle to be openly targeted by someone was Trump. By a foreign national of all things.
