filibuster only requires 40 and Dems got pretty intransigent in Dubya's second term. if 48 or 49 Democratic Senators are all that stands between Donald Trump and the Republic i expect the public pressure on them to be absolutely enormous to obstruct as much as possible. and some Republican senators like Sasse and Graham absolutely fucking hate Trump. will be interesting to see if they fall in line.

Edit: And not even that, just the darkest moment in our electoral history. The 60s and 70s had some pretty dark times, the 1880s were freaking *HORRIBLE* on our national conscience, and then there's that whole slavery thing, plus Jim Crow up through, y'know, the 60s.
