So, honest question. Do you think that this year it was harder than normal to have such rational discourse than in the past? I found that it was almost impossible to have anything of the sort because the two sides couldn't even agree on what the facts were.

It was nigh impossible to have a decent conversation with alot of people. Shit look at all the comments on here about people breaking off friendships because someone wouldn't support Queen Hillary.

A huge portion of the blame for that is on the media, which as we've seen was effectively being given marching orders from the Clinton Campaign to portray Trump as the literal devil and all his supporters as racist, sexist, xenophobic monsters. Combined with all of the hardcore astroturfing strongly galvanized both sides and left little room for logic.

My brother is raging on Facebook about Trump's victory.

He voted for Stein. In Wisconsin. He thought it was safe even though I told him multiple times that it wasn't. I have less patience for his idiocy than for my sister who almost definitely voted Trump.

Considering 46.6% didnt vote, its a safe bet to say about 20% actually didnt vote.

Said it before but I know more than a handful of people spite voted Trump because of the insane amount of namecalling the left did this cycle.

As someone said before, feels mattered in this year's election. Then, of course, there's the people that voted Trump to see SJWs and social justice as a whole get defeated. It didn't help that a lot of social media were huge echo chambers - in retrospect, just looking at the amount of turn out and energy Trump/Pence's rallys had compared to Clinton/Kaine's should have been a huge eye opener.

Yeah when I watched one of the rallys late in the cycle I was like "Oh, I see", plus all those Latinos for Trump, Women for Trump, Blacks for Trump, Democrats for Trump groups were very real.

Left really pushed me away this year, maybe I'm just getting older and selfish, but seems like they are becoming a large part of what they hate.

To further on these protests and voter turnouts, i have a feeling a decent chunk (enough to sway the results) of non-voters were Clinton supporters who decided to not waste their time voting cause "theres no way people will vote for Trump".
