Oh I totally agree. I've always been under the impression that the majority of the pants on head shit Trump's been harping he'll get done cannot get done, because you know, reality. Even the Congressional Term Limits, which I wholeheartedly agree with, has 0 chance of passing unless you holds the House and Senate hostage (literally) with threat of gassing the room if its not approved.

Yeah, gonna agree that the US is probably too big to truly be run efficiently and that the EC is dumb, if for any reason, rural areas being years behind their urban counterparts in pretty much everything.

Also need to be mindful that the country was founded at a time where information couldn't be transmitted in the blink of an eye, which means all those giant swathes of red on the various maps relied more on snail mail and newspapers to spread word on happenings and policy. Basically, it was easier back then to not get the "full story" than it is now, as well as transit being more difficult and bluntly dangerous depending. So, while what inhabits the land now as opposed to then may be drastically different in some areas of the mid-west, there's honestly a lot that hasn't changed. At least, not in a way we'd likely even register.

Otherwise, I really do feel it all comes back to education. Cite Idiocracy as a How To guide, sure, but it's evident we have people who can't look past either side's slant to glean the facts and potential consequences of decisions, alongside a lacking willingness to do what needs to be done via fear of the unknown. Education also tends to nullify the shortcomings of religion, which for all we're supposed to keep state and such separate, it sure does seem to hold sway in our politics.

Just too much wasted potential going on, and it dreadfully seems by design.

Welcome to why I am an advocate for stronger emphasis on States and less on Federal action. California's almost too big to be one country (and is FAR too large to be one state), with sweeping federal policies, let alone all of the US.
