Hillary Clinton was asked extremely tough, critical questions and answered them in great, minute detail to the best of her ability. She explained her desire and plans to fix problems with the VA (funding), addressing veteran brain injury and suicide, shared intelligence with our allies to improve our ability to stop terrorism, and enforcement of the Iran agreement. She accepted responsibility for her mistakes in public service, again for the umpteenth effing time... and then she went beyond that to say that we need to have better processes and policies to make sure the mistakes are kept to a minimum, because mistakes happen to all of us.
T knows guys over there cuz he did business with em, and probably only once given his business record. He doesn't have a plan to deal with ISIS, or anything else he plans to do, but when he thinks of one or someone gives him one he likes he'll let us know. Oh yeah, and he thinks it's a wonderful thing to work with a war-hungry dictator with an 82% approval rating. He accepts no responsibility for anything, and would simply replace generals he doesn't like. You know, kinda like that 82% guy does.
I also gave up after about 5 minutes of Trump. I would like to put more effort into critically evaluating his various proposals/arguments, and thus be willing to spend more time learning what they are, but they're rarely tangible and those that are tangible tend to be fluid. I just can't make myself watch him and attempt to extract meaning from his blathering when the little meaning there is was probably unintentional.
Your review sounds a bit biased but I'll take your word for it
Loved how Matt was like "Why are you asking Generals for a plan to defeat ISIS if you already know more than Generals? And his answer was they're going to be different generals. LOL fuck
That's amazing
Trump got easier questions and still bombed them. If this is a preview of how Trump is going to perform in the debates he's going to be terrible.
just saw some recaps of the questions and answers on YouTube. I feel like Hillary got more challenging questions and it felt like Matt was "attacking" her because he knew she could actually answer questions. trump pretty much reverted to LET ME SING YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE mode instead.
I honestly don't know. If people were making decisions based on credentials, previous evidence of performance, etc. then it wouldn't be nearly as close of a race as it is.
Trump is still close because truthy is the new truth and he's good at confidently selling whatever feels truthy to him at the moment. I didn't see anything during my brief time tuning in that particularly broke with that, so he's probably not going to alienate anyone.
It's unclear to me how accurate polls relating to Trump are. Were the people polled a few weeks ago just unwilling to say they supported Trump because he had so recently said a bunch of racist things? Now that his racism is more distant, do they just feel less ashamed of voting for him? Who will they actually vote for when no one else knows?
Spoiler: show
How do military people feel about Trump dodging the draft due to affluenca of the heel? How do they feel about a civilian talking shit about their generals, veterans, POWs, and gold star families?
Are the issues with the VA the same issues we would have with Universal health care?
I have vets on my Bookface actually FOR Trump...shit is hard to wrap my head around...but then...all of are middle to elderly white males...so...
So, did Matt Lauer completely fail to refute Trump's lie that he was against the Iraq war, despite the fact that we have him on tape saying he's for it?
Hillary should bring a pocket recorder to the stage at the debate and just play the clip of Howard Stern "So are you for the Iraq War?" and Trump "Yeah, I guess so." on repeat while just staring him down.
Yeah, Lauer definitely gave Trump an easier time than Hillary with exception to pressing him about the oil comments and bringing up his tweet about sexual harassment in the military.
By any objective standard, the answers Trump gave would be disqualifying of any other candidate. The bar for Trump is so low though that short of having a public meltdown durin one of the debates, he'll still get 40% of the national vote. And even if he does have a public meltdown, he'll still get something like 35%.
