End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.

Wouldn't ending that be the exact opposite of what he was saying on the campaign trail?

I didn't look at it closely, but a lot will depend on how much of it lines up with what Republicans in Congress want to do and how quickly the popular backlash to his presidency comes after he assumes office.

As in my cynical hypothetical before, I think it's far more likely that they un-fuck the ACA (that they fucked in the first place) and then take credit for it.

The reason why they were so adamantly against the ACA in the first place is that it's incredibly difficult to get rid of entitlement programs once they're in place without pissing off an awful lot of people.

So the ACA is here and it's probably here to stay, their options are to defund the hell out of it or fix it and act like it was their idea the whole time. If they want to hold onto this victory I'd say the latter is the better option, as infuriating as it may be.

It would be the better option for them politically and for the country in general, but that's never guaranteed legislation before.

And they can legitimately point to a lot of conversation that Republicans wanted to fix the health care system, and Obamacare was just the wrong way to do it (not that it was going to get through on the Republican watch, but there WERE Republicans making that claim, even at the time). Names matter, and Republicans are frankly better at demonization than Democrats have been, I think in part because they are less idealistic and more pragmatic.

I'd replace "pragmatic" with "insidious".

They simply did not want positive legislation credited to the Democrats, regardless of the potential benefits to their constituents.
