I feel like I"m beating a dead horse but this is actually really concerning, you have half the nation thinking he campaigned on all this awful stuff out in the streets, we have people in this thread hoping they see a bit of violence, you have the media fanning the flames with fake ass protesters. Where is our president? Where are the calls from media/hillary for people to chill out a notch and accept the election results? People have a right to protest but some of these are getting dangerously close to riot level. Not to mention the reason these people are so upset is because for months media was telling them she literally had a 95% chance of winning.

If this was the other way around, these people would be called savages and every -ist you could come up with.
Yup, people have been gobbling up the media's lies about his campaign from day 1.

Happy to say I supported him from the beginning and I think a lot of people, in particular on this forum, will be very shocked by how well he does.

There's a lot of "educated people" voting for Clinton but educated =/ intelligent and most of her supporters can't see through the media noise and actually listen to what the guy has said. Not saying Trumps supporters are all genius', but most everyone I talk to that supported Clinton just regurgitates the same lines spread by the media the last year and a half that he's a "bigot, mysogynist, xenophobe, etc..." and it's just not true. Ok so he's a bit of a bigot, and sexist but hell so was JFK and he got the highest approval rating of any president ever.

Things will be ok. Trump got blasted, absolutely blasted for not saying he'd accept the results, and now you have all of Hillary's crybaby supporters out there protesting instead of doing just that. It's pathetic.

Well, this was pretty much my cue to get off social media for a while. The in fighting just in the Millennial generation is horrible enough without older ones saying we're being piss babies about this after saying they'd revolt if Trump didn't get elected.

@Sky: Maybe people were blasting Trump because he's a man used to winning and throwing a fit when things didn't go in his favor. He made his statements along the lines that he would win the popular and lose the election and his supporters grabbed onto that with their threats to rebel against the nation. Then when that exact thing happened in his favor it's suddenly a "The Will of the People(TM) saw me into office!" when he won via an electoral college victory that went against the popular vote.

No, you don't. Because everything is so damned readily labeled as "hate" when it's not. Fear, often, yes-- but fear can be dealt with, even irrational fear, more easily than hate. Hate is rare, but it's so freaking broadly thrown around by people who simply cannot imagine any other motivation.

Trump is narcissistic, and disrespectful, but that's not freaking hate. The phrase, hate speech (and its morphs), is so badly applied that it's lost meaning. There were some examples here posted of true hate speech-- and none of that was close to what Trump has said, nor close to anywhere near a 50th of his voters. Some percentage, yes, and they will be loudly seized upon and held up as the standard, but if you're honest with yourself for even a moment, you'll find it's not true.

Trump literally said that a federal judge couldn't do his job because he's Mexican-American.

I don't know what your bar for hate speech is but that has to clear it right?

You know, it makes me sad to see this. You guys decry people who supported Hillary for not seeing how Trump supporters saw things, yet you obviously don't understand why people who didn't want to vote for Trump are angry or sad. And based on what you're saying it's hard to see how you're even trying.

I watched some of Trump's rallies, I dare say I even watched more of his stump speeches than Hillary's. You don't have to come out and directly say that you hate a group of people to bring out hate in others (although thanks for saying "i fucking hate you guys" Day, stay classy). When Trump talked about Mexican's bringing crime and drugs and that he assumed some were good people, it's not hard to understand how some view that as hate speech. It's no different than when Hillary made her deplorables comment (which I think was an absolute mistake). When people at Trump rallies start shouting "Lock her up" and he does nothing but say he's going to do so at the debates, that's channeling that anger that people have and giving it a microphone.

Remember when one Trump supporter called for a Revolution if Trump didn't win? I'm very thankful that Mike Pence actually told her not to say things like that. I'm honestly not sure what Trump would've done, but he's never told his supporters to calm down as far as I know. The President and Hillary have both come out and said that they hope Trump will do good and that he brings the country together. Are they the only ones who should be trying to calm people down? Where's Trump? Using his Twitter account to make less of the pain that people are feeling? Remember when Trump said there'd be riots if he wasn't the nominee? Clearly he understands his supporters pain.

Personally, it's really his policies I don't agree with. Repealing Obamacare, his stance on Climate Change, on Russia, not being fully supportive of NATO, taxes, Planned Parenthood, are things I consider important that I disagree with him on and that's just off the top of my head. The fact that he has the tendency to lash out so vehemently at people that call him out or disagree with him worries me, because it makes me wonder if he will listen when it's clear he's wrong. Even when among those he usually agrees with.

My question is who got their feelings hurt bad enough by Headspace's copypasta to pay for a 30 day ban?

Trump being a meanie is not the biggest problem we face here. Do people who supported him think climate change isn't a real thing, or do they just swallow his opposition to doing anything about it because they like what else he proposes? Do people think his tax plan, which would explode the deficit based on every single analysis is the right way to go, or do they count on Congress not to implement it without gutting the social safety net, and that that's the right way to go?

Or do people not really pay attention to his stated proposals, and instead just enjoy him as the bomb throwing embodiment of white identity politics?

    I'm generally curious.

I mean, I can't speak for those people since I'm not one of them, but is it any drastically different from anyone here who was begrudgingly voting for Hillary because she was a means to an end?

There's so many people out there that are single issue voters in either direction, so whether it may have been guns, the economy or whatever, they latched onto their important issue and blocked out all the rest.

I think most of the begrudging Hillary voters agreed with at least most of her platform, they just didn't like/trust/whatever her personally. That's what I'm asking I guess - do his supporters on this board like most of his policies, or just his personality/style, or what?

Yeah, I was specifically supporting Hillary because of her policies.

If Trump was a means to an end, that end was us becoming a second-rate nation with a tropical climate and shitty weather.

538 mentioned she had a lot more enthusiasm from her supporters as a viable candidate and not just as a counter pick. Problem was she just didn't have enough supporters overall obviously

Honestly, Trump doesn't have a platform; he has campaign promises and debate whims which are 100% hot air until in office and a real 100 day plan is crafted. This is especially true for a President-elect who has never served in public office. I think repealing portions of the ACA, tightening immigration policy, and feeding through a few of his tax cuts in some shape or form are likely; from there we'll see. None of that is great, but the hope is that he moves towards the center once in office; most Presidents tend to and Obama certainly did.

If he instead follows through on his campaign rhetoric to a T, well...at least we won't be surprised. I do not see him getting more extreme in "policy" than what he has articulated on the campaign trail at least.

Even if you wanted to be generous and ignore all of Trump's blatant dog whistle racist/xenophobic appeals (and that's a good enough reason by itself, is this conduct what we want for the most powerful man in the world?), the fact that he picked fucking Mike Pence as his Vice and he's now looking at various extreme wingnuts to fill out his cabinet should be enough information for you to know why so many people find voting for him nauseating.
