Honestly, Trump doesn't have a platform; he has campaign promises and debate whims which are 100% hot air until in office and a real 100 day plan is crafted. This is especially true for a President-elect who has never served in public office. I think repealing portions of the ACA, tightening immigration policy, and feeding through a few of his tax cuts in some shape or form are likely; from there we'll see. None of that is great, but the hope is that he moves towards the center once in office; most Presidents tend to and Obama certainly did.

If he instead follows through on his campaign rhetoric to a T, well...at least we won't be surprised. I do not see him getting more extreme in "policy" than what he has articulated on the campaign trail at least.

It's not incumbent on the people who voted against Trump to show him good will or the benefit of the doubt. He must earn that through his words and actions. He is not signaling that he is giong to govern in a unifying way for the majority of the electorate that voted for the other candidate, nor has he done anything to show that he is capable or fit to govern this country in a competent manner.

Do you think the results would have been much different had Hillary won? Honestly the worst thing that's going to happen is with the environment. Maybe this will wake up the DNC to stop fucking trying to give the dynasty they want a turn. The Democrats are hurting pretty hard across the nation which is kind of surprising. Republicans hold more offices than they have since the 20's. Democrats are sending a smug message and not talking to people at a personal level. They need someone with some fucking charisma to be able to convince people to come out and vote.

As I said earlier I bet 1/2 the people that are protesting didn't even fucking vote.

Honestly, I don't remember that many (probably because rural white folk are less likely to organize and demonstrate), but I certainly remember the virulent Islamophobia and racism that sprouted from his election.

On the topic of trump's "hate speech." No, he didn't outright say he hated any one specific group. Most everything he did was fear mongering. But it shouldn't take a genius (or a colored person) to see that fear mongering is the natural progression leading straight to hate mongering, a sentiment trump did nothing to shutter. Look at immigrants and look at muslims and ask yourself, day: do you truly believe what he constantly said as a presidential nominee could really be so inconsequential and easily ignored by the people who wanted to push it to that level? Or that they are not in any way related? Same thing applies with his racist comments about mexicans, too. Simply starting on that path and riling up the fear is something that will sway some really stupid fucking people into being hateful for zero reason. When you open the door to shit like that, worse and related things are gonna creep through. Literally can't understand how you don't see that. Not even kidding when I say you sound like the whitest person I've interacted with in a long time in how oblivious you are to his inflammatory rhetoric.

I think one of the things that gets me the most, though, is that trump purposely used his words so in such an inciting manner only to constantly "walk back" his claims as if he was just kidding the whole time. It was like his comments didn't count if he said he wasn't seriously speaking the first time. But again when you open that door or that pandora's box, the rest of the shit comes through too and you're liable just the same. He knew what he was doing, yet somehow so many people fell for that shit. You don't seem to be any exception, day.

Yup, people have been gobbling up the media's lies about his campaign from day 1.

Happy to say I supported him from the beginning and I think a lot of people, in particular on this forum, will be very shocked by how well he does.

There's a lot of "educated people" voting for Clinton but educated =/ intelligent and most of her supporters can't see through the media noise and actually listen to what the guy has said. Not saying Trumps supporters are all genius', but most everyone I talk to that supported Clinton just regurgitates the same lines spread by the media the last year and a half that he's a "bigot, mysogynist, xenophobe, etc..." and it's just not true. Ok so he's a bit of a bigot, and sexist but hell so was JFK and he got the highest approval rating of any president ever.

Things will be ok. Trump got blasted, absolutely blasted for not saying he'd accept the results, and now you have all of Hillary's crybaby supporters out there protesting instead of doing just that. It's pathetic.

Trump literally said that a federal judge couldn't do his job because he's Mexican-American.

You're woefully out of touch. This guy won an election on fear, using that fear to fuel hate based on racism. There is no going high when going low guarantees power for 4 years because people aren't educated enough to know how important elections are in America.

I watched this shit live and have personally heard people the last 8 years do nothing but say "he's not my President I didn't vote for that socialist pile of shit" only to criticize people now for doing the same shit.
