I think there's a more important problem now than that.

The children in this country just watched as this guy became president, despite his atrocious campaign. And a good number of them were cheering all the way. They're just as emboldened as he is. This will pay dividends to the GOP going forward.

this is one of my greatest concerns. i mean i know that i can teach my own kids to be good. but i can't teach some shitdog's kids to not be terrible fucking people. and even if these kids are lucky enough to be in the middle where they're not sure what is good or bad, it's so easy to be swayed by all these fear-mongering comments and fear-laden sentiments that have been coming out of the new president's mouth. and which will now be amplified by millions as totally acceptable.

maybe that's what gets me the most. we had a chance to put a lid on all of that and keep it on a path where we could try and make things better as time went on. now it's just gonna grow, and grow a fucking lot.

There was a study that your political preference as you age is more closely tied to the political environment when you first became of age to vote.

When I became eligible to vote, there was a huge push MN for change as the voting majority found the two party system broken. This was the year that Jesse Ventura was voted in for Governor. Bill Clinton also still had "rock star" status and was considered the first black president. I tend to lean more independent while dabbling with democratic.

What else should I point to, Zoner? You want to bring back up the teenager who was arrested after Obama was voted in for plotting to assassinate him after decapitating 88 black people? Maybe the fact that throughout his time in office Barack Obama had more threats against his life than any other President in history? Maybe you'd like me to go back to the Congressional office I was in and dig through some of the old mail so I can find the letter from a Republican who demanded Michelle and Barack be executed and their children be sterilized.

I have but two thoughts at the moment. The first is that you don't actually have a reason to have voted for Trump beside that he wasn't Hillary and are now desperately trying to deflect criticism away from the fact that every indication is that his Presidency will be an Obamacare-level disaster.

The second is that of course not all of his supporters are racist, misogynistic, or homophobic, or xenophobic, or what have you. It's just that everyone who IS also happens to be a Trump supporter. Don't take my word for it, ask the Ku Klux Klan or the American Nazi Party. Yeah, it sucks that Democrats are too full of themselves to reach out to the white working class and have created this impression of themselves as smug and "knowing what's best," but when someone legitimately has the backing of every major hate group in the nation, it's a good enough reason to overlook that failing on your party's part and get angry at that working class for voting that person in.
