    Fucking disgusting.
Just cross checking Oregon registrations is going to leave out anyone not legally able to vote, anyone from out of state (Portland is on the Washington border) and random anarchy-bros looking to stir shit up wouldn't be expected to participate in politics while simultaneously being much more likely to get arrested.

But yeah, if you were able to vote for Hillary and didn't, you really don't get to complain about Trump.

Sad part was at that point I was still in training mostly and a little time in Guam. But rough hours and sticking around just in case and duty days made it hard to compete.

Let's move on from the FFXI talk. Yes, there are parallels between MMOs and politics (people are people, shockingly), but I think a lot of this talk is more just reminiscing.... and we DO have a thread for that in GD.

    moving on

Paul Ryan unanimously nominated for a second term as Speaker of the House in a firm display of Republican unity following months of fractious infighting. Speaker Ryan and President-elect Trump publicly feuded many times over the course of the election leading some Trump surrogates to declare that Ryan would not be the next Speaker and members of the Freedom Caucus to begin planning a domestic rebellion against his reelection. these squabbles now appear firmly put to bed and Ryan will remain the second most powerful man in Washington.

I really wonder how the Trumpets are feeling about Trump surrounding himself with nothing but insiders. Or are they already twisting the narrative.

I was WAY off on my estimate of non-voters protesting. I should have trusted my intuition knowing that these people dont like to actually put any effort for what they want until its too late (yes I know their votes wouldnt have mattered), then they bitch and moan and cry and protest and whatever else. But atleast I was spot on that a lot of the protesters didnt even vote. Not bad for a "stupid imbecile Canadian who knows nothing about American politics", eh?

I just saw a tweet asserting that 3 million illegal immigrants voted in the election. I investigated and the source is infowars and about 40 different sites quoting Infowars.

We're also talking about Oregon, which is a state in no danger of going red for anytime in the forseeable future. The number of non-voters would likely be escalated there compared to some other states.

Google is pulling money from website spewing fake news sites. Unknown if it'll affect websites like Onion.com or it'll actually strike at Infowars but they're getting called out and attempting to address the issue.

Hilldog is up to a million vote lead on Trump, about to hit 62 million total (and Trump is about to hit 61 million). Here's a spreadsheet tracking votes as they are counted daily.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...=true&sle=true

Also, total turnout is estimated at 58.1%, barely down from the 58.6% in 2012, and better than it was in any election from 1972-2000. More votes have already been counted this year than were cast in 2012 (even with the slightly lower turnout this year).

    http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/...own-from-2012/

It's very likely that the top 4 vote-getting presidents of all time are going to be Obama '08, Obama '12, Hillary '16, Trump '16 (with an outside chance that Hillary '16 overtakes Obama '12)

Huh, so based on that graphic at the end you can very likely pin Trump taking Wisconsin as a result of low turnout, but most of the other big swing states either saw increased turnout or a fairly negligible decrease.

    Utah tho

Yeah, big decrease in Wisconsin, small decrease in Michigan (although Trump only won Michigan by 13,000 votes, so it could have been the difference), but no turnout-related issue would make Florida or Pennsylvania blue.

Part of the complicating factor as well is that because there were way more 3rd party votes this year than '12, even with the higher turnout some of the 2-party vote totals could be lower in some states because of over 5% of voters total going 3rd party.

Oh, never realized Michigan ended up that close. I went to bed before they officially called it and never went back and looked at the totals.

They're twisting it. Quote a friend.

Friend: "In order to dismantle it you need people who know how it works"

Me: "What if they just abuse the system like normal"

Friend: "Then Trump will fire them"
