Also, hasn't the recount in WI so far actually increased Trump's margin? Think it's only by like 10 or something, but still, lol.
From what I understand right now they're doing a post-election audit rather than a recount. It's actually a more labor-intensive process that doesn't necessarily include recounting votes (i.e. checking for machine tampering, squaring the number of voters marked on the rolls vs. the number of total votes to make sure there isn't an overvote, which we already know happened in several precincts since there were screenshots of the WI tallies).

There was a really high profile complaint over the past few days about a couple votes that were randomly removed from the tally - what actually happened was that there were a couple overseas absentee ballots that didn't have a third-party witness certification but were still counted, so they randomly pulled two that "didn't have a marked vote on the presidential ballot". It actually makes sense, since there's no way to verify that US citizens filled out the ballots, but why random ballots were chosen to be pulled instead of the actual absentee ballots that didn't have the cert seal is beyond me.

This could have very easily been a scene from South Park.

I'm still not convinced it isn't.

On the DAPL thing the company building it has said they will go ahead with construction even without the permits and permission and just pay the fines. I think at this point a punishment more harsh than fines should be incurred if they continue building.

I have a feeling they are just counting on Trump to clear the path come January. Although can they tunnel under the river while the ground is frozen?

Texas electoral college member claims he won't cast for Trump. (not the same guy who is resigning)

Wonder how many faithless electors we'll see in a couple weeks.

Supposedly there are 8 Democratic electors who are going to vote for Kasich instead of Hillary as well. Strange times.

But Clinton will not be able to avoid getting drawn into the Electoral College machinations. That’s because her husband — former President Bill Clinton — is a Democratic elector from New York.

    Wow. Fuck these guys.

What's the point of having regulations when they don't actually act as deterrents?

That is the problem I was trying to think about how to solve. When your "fines" are so small that a massive corporation can easily absorb it as "operating cost" then they can pretty much do whatever they want. I think on issues like this the fines should be large enough to destroy the company into oblivion. Or at least have the ability to go after the leaders of said company in criminal court or something. There has to be recourse against companies that act in pure negligence or knowingly break the law. This is a similar issue we had with these massive banks that caused the '08 financial crisis.

I honestly don't know what can be done about it and even if there was a potential solution based on how our country operates it would never be implemented because 'yay business and screw everything else'.

As stated all along, ETP and SXL are fully committed to ensuring that this vital project is brought to completion and fully expect to complete construction of the pipeline without any additional rerouting in and around Lake Oahe. Nothing this Administration has done today changes that in any way.
That doesn't mean they are going to go ahead with digging under the lake right now, they just (probably correctly) understand that they ultimately aren't going to end up having to re-route once the political environment changes.

Yeah it just means that what everyone was considered a "victory" is just a delay for now.

Wait til the protesters find out this pipeline already crosses the Mississippi River! Hoo boy are they going to be upset.

(and that the Missouri River is already crossed by 4 other oil pipelines upstream from Standing Rock in North Dakota alone)

How many of those crossings are going through a sovereign reservation though? That's the bigger problem than a river crossing.

Joe Biden has given an interview where he says he will run for president in 2020.

he would be 78 years old.
