Are you saying this in agreement? That article is pretty compelling.

I wonder if it's fair to say, that at least in part due to the economic concerns of working class whites, racial grievances have escalated. I think that in times of hardship, people look to a reason, someone to blame the hardship on. I mean how long has, "they're stealing our jobs" been around?

I'm not saying the fear is that blacks are stealing jobs, more just the idea that the problem is "them." The rights version of populism holds that the problem is "them." That we need to take our country back from "them." Exactly who "they" are varies from country to country but it's always those who are in the minority. As has been stated before about globalization; food, clothing and cultures from other places are okay on their own. But the people themselves are another thing entirely, and immigration is a final stage of globalization which is where we are now. I do wonder how big a problem race would be today, if the middle class was in better shape than it is.

I think a larger problem is the attribution error that assigns blame constantly to someone else.

nothing says the party of personal responsibility quite like blaming foreigners for you losing your job

The target of the whole TAKE ERR JERRRBS thing these days seems to be China. I then think back to cases like Vincent Chin and wonder how people can be bewildered as to why minority groups are nervous at the idea of someone validating these ideas being elected to the highest office in the land.

This is a big stupid stink ass pile of BULLSHIT.

The "white working class"(wow the fact that working classes are CATEGORIZED is just ugh..) should know better. Both classes are equally FUCKED in the US, and especially the south. My 12.45/hr was no different than a white dudes 12.45/hr. 40 hours of pointless working and a union slowly kissing the company's ass, to the point where vacations are soon taken away. While we deserved a lot more, REGARDLESS OF RACE, I know full well that's not going to change, no matter who is running.

So yeah, we're in the blame-game era. People want a reason for shit constantly not working.

So because the system worked for you, it definitely works for everyone else. Gotcha.

The 10% policy is by far the most damning.

After the 2016 election I'd be surprised*.

*I won't actually be surprised. I just don't know what to expect anymore.

Trump: I didn't know that New Deal sized infrastructure plans that would put Americans back to work conflicted with Republican small government ideals

    Jesus Fucking Christ, America.

    http://www.cnbc.com/2016/12/21/trump...uestioned.html

He acknowledged that he didn't realize during the campaign that New Deal-style proposals to put people to work building infrastructure might conflict with his party's small-government philosophy.

"That's not a very Republican thing - I didn't even know that, frankly," he said.

Since the election, Trump has backed away - or at least suggested flexibility - on a range of issues that energized his supporters during the campaign, including his promises to prosecute Hillary Clinton, pull out of the Paris climate change accord and reinstitute waterboarding for detainees.

That's a pretty big promise to renege on. Disappointing in general because it's one of the things that I think Trump and the left could've agreed on (not including congressional Republicans of course). It's something Bernie was pushing for as well.

Going back on that promise basically removes any good reason there was to vote for the guy.

Construction is the biggest remaining decent paying work for people without college degrees that can't be automated or outsourced (on top of the fact that investing in infrastructure smartly pays off economically in a myriad of ways)

Have the Republicans said who they think should take care of or revamp our infrastructure if the government isn't supposed to?

Privatize everything I would guess. We already have instances of states selling toll roads to businesses, in theory having them pick up the bill for maintenance and repair.

State issue. If they want good roads and stuff, they'll scale government enough to take care of it.

Wrote a letter to Tim Kaine. Got a signed response.

Pretty stoked about it. The letter didn't really say much (As a senator he can't talk about any campaigns and wishes luck for Trump is the basic gist of it.)

    Spoiler: show
