    GPU issues

I'm tearing out what little hair I have left. I've built a computer previously but decided to buy one premade this time. I've gotten everything set up despite a few hiccups with hdd partitions and what not, but I cannot get my video card to register.

I've installed current drivers, disabled the onboard vga, gone into bios and moved around the pci slot. I've changed the spot on the MB. I tried using the driver disc it came with but got an error preventing me so used the interwebs for the drivers. I'm not sure if it's just me missing something crucial from the disc or if maybe the gpu is just doa or if it's something simple.

I just don't know anything else I can personally do. I'm not super computer savvy but I get by. I could be missing something. It sucks, Everything else is awesome but this issue. My monitor is running through the gpu and the fan is running on it as well but the computer only shows the onboard vga.

I'm going to assume you're using windows 10.

In your windows search bar, type in Dxdiag. It'll pop open a window that'll look like this.

Under display 1 it should show you what GPU you have. Let me know if it tells you that so we know your computer is at least detecting it.

Also, what GPU are you using.

Is it still under warranty? You may be able to get tech support from the manufacturer to go through a script to check for problems and eventually get them to accept it as a return on their dime. As with most prebuilts, it should have worked out of the box without you having to do anything besides plug it in. Did you have to do anything to it after receiving the box? Try to run through what happened.

For lack of info, are you trying to install a new card or is this one that came with the machine? If installing new, power supply that came with the machine might not be strong enough for your new vid card. If it came with the machine, still check to make sure your vid card has the power connector plugged in (most cards should have a secondary power input, either a 6 or 8 pin connector, higher end models can have two connectors).

Also, screenshots or the text of the error messages can help.
