In 1978, Georgia played at LSU in raucous Tiger Stadium for the first time in 26 years. While Coach Dooley was out on the field before the game, he witnessed the unimaginable.

Apparently, Uga III was invading the space of LSU’s mascot, Mike IV, near the tiger’s cage. Mike ran up to the cage’s edge and roared loudly but Uga didn’t budge. Infuriated, Mike got on his hind legs, rattled the cage, and roared even louder.

Not phased a bit, Uga charged the cage, barking ferociously at the opposing mascot. Mike sheepishly retreated to the back of his cage.

Upon seeing this, Dooley was instantly inspired and returned to his team in the dressing room. “Let’s go, men… we’ve got ‘em tonight!” he shouted to the Bulldogs prior to entering the field.

Georgia, a seven-point underdog, would go on to defeat LSU by a touchdown. But it was another bulldog, who was the first to pull an upset in Baton Rouge that night, prevailing over a 450-pound Bengal tiger.
To my knowledge, its been the only interaction between Uga and Mike.

It is certainly tough for a fanbase to lose a mascot like this. My condolences.

    Why wouldn't I be serious?

It was sad when Uga VI passed. It was sad when 7 and 8 went in short order too. These live mascots become a part of gameday tradition and community.

I don't think Texas is that into Beevo. I'm fairly sure Colorado doesn't love its buffalo (BISON!!1) so much. From old-Big XII-land, where defense is absent, few live mascots exist, and they are not mourned such that fanbases require condolences.

It was just a fun statement to me. All serious and somber for an unamused tiger. Bulldog is significantly more mournable, to be fair. I hope you're not too grief-stricken by the future Ugas you outlive.

I think Mike was pretty special to the LSU fans. Plus, tiger, noone wants to see those die. Well except people in rural parts where tigers terrorize their villages.

Reveille is well cared for, as is Smokey, in the SEC.

First off, it's Bevo -- get it right! And second, Texas loves Bevo.

Mitch Leidner is out for the Gophers Vs Maryland. He suffered a concussion during the Iowa game. Conor Rhoda will be replacing him and this is only his second game with the team that he gets to play.

UF has bought out their home game on 11/19 and has agreed to travel to play LSU. The two school's ADs are apparently having a pretty epic pissing contest behind the scenes.

With that game getting moved to Baton Rouge, a person unfortunate enough to be a UF season ticket holder this season gets to witness some epic games against UMASS, Kentucky, North Texas, Missouri, and South Carolina. Woof.

Dude sounds hella bitter about the situation but McElwain didn't really deny Grier was telling the truth either. Sounds like he is happy at WVU now though.

Duke just blew any chance of upsetting Louisville. Roughing the kicker on 4th and 22. Louisville ends up with a TD to make it a 10 point game instead of 3 with the missed FG

Was just watching the college game day vignette on JT Barrett and man, ESPN does a great job on these 10 minute segments to make you really like a player or coach. Too bad when they have a fuck up the entire news cycle becomes about how the player/coach is an idiot, terrible, worst person ever literally Hitler.
