Update: So far I've landed the following just pulling on start dash:

Lightning: LD, EX, 35 CP weapon (x2); 15 CP weapon.
Squall: 15 CP weapon; EX (x2); LD
Cloud: 35 CP weapon (x2); EX.

Hoping to pull enough to break at least the LD weapons. How much of a dealbreaker is it to not have the BT weapons for any of 'em?

Yea the start dash try to pull all 3 BT, LD and EX, along with 35 and 15 which will carry you significantly through a lot of content with Lightning, Cloud, Squall alone. When i did that banner, i did it until i got everyone and if worst came to worst, i had to pity cloud’s BT weapon. Cloud and Lightning are powerhouses alone and Cloud can dispel a buff for every time he gets a crit in his turn. Squall is massive amounts of damage and can manhandle a lot of early content.

We’re coming up with Bartz who is an insane support, Galuf for insane tanking and Tifa for supposedly the top tier dps atm. Golbez is great too but i would rather pull on the start dash banner.

Cloud and Lightning’s BTs should be priority imo.

Don’t sweat it, i think you get a free 10+1 daily until the banner is over, but you get a ton of freebies, gems and tickets. I ended up with a bunch of BT squall dupes and lightning, that i got tokens from it, i had enough gems to pity cloud’s BT.

Another banner you can try to nab is Faris, her LD and call ability(assist) is a huge game changer atm, i would still focus on Start dash but Faris can do a number of things once maxed out.

Thanks; I'll do it once I'm ok with the first batch of rolls. I rerolled cause I realized I was about..9 pulls in without a BT.

Did a reroll and tutorial/rank level today. No LD for Lightning; but a BT for Squall and a LD for Cloud. Doesn't take terribly long to do tutorial + a few starter missions.

Funny that you mention Faris.. the free pull I did on her banner nabbed me her 35 CP weapon and two copies of her LD.

10 pulls in. 290 G tokens. Everything but Squall's LD and Cloud's BT. Figure I'll get to 300 then pity Squall's LD if I don't have it.

Got dupes of some others. Seems like LDs are the one to prioritize maxing then selling? Passive wise.

I would honestly keep trying for the LD and pity the last burst you need. That’s what i did and no regrets lol. Just keep exhausting that start dash imo and if you pitied the burst, use tickets maybe.

I also highly recommend using the red power tokens to get a crimson edge for cloud, max out that weapon then sell for orbs. That gives cloud a passive to dispel a buff per turn so long as cloud crits, def worth since cloud pretty much always crits. Max out with orbs to limit break, no need to waste extra power tokens. Remember once you max out a weapon, you can sell them for free orbs as long as you have a weapon with higher CP value ex, max ex+ weapons have 110 CP which are higher than LD which maxes at 100CP, Burst weapons are 130CP which are the best to equip if the character has it. Sell any dupes you have that have a red checkmark, this means you’ve maxed that weapon before and can free sell.

500 tokens to pity the burst, I think -- so it was more a concern of 'hmm, might run out of time' since that's 120k gems I'd have to get in about..2 days at this point to get a pity on the burst.

Thanks for the advice there: I've actually sold off a few with the checkmark (remember that much from my first foray); Cloud's 15 CP one you get from beginner missions. Squall's 15 CP weapon as well.

Is there any point to maxing, then realizing an EX weapons if you have a character's burst? Cause I figured if I don't get Cloud's burst, maybe a Maxed EX weapon would suffice? I already have one book from linking my data.

Got most of it, but the stuff with EX+ got a little confusing for me; I think those were out before they released bursts? The sense I get is that they're the best for people that don't have/won't get a burst (so, someone like Faris, who I have, is a good example).

I did get excited for a bit with a last pull thinking I'd get Cloud's burst (cause of the orb color during pull) but, nope, dupe burst for Squall. Right now I'm sitting on about 14-15 power orbs. So depending on how this next batch of pulls go, I either end up getting enough dupes to max out the stuff I need, or I use some to max out the key things like the LD's.

Yea a maxed ex+ is CP110, better than a maxed LD which is CP100. Only issue is that you need to refine red adamantite nuggets (20 of them), for an red ingot, 1 ingot is required to limit break an ex+ weapon. They’ll come across much easier as time passes, but you can get at least 1 nugget a day with the cactuar hunt. Blue ingots are for armor. However refining an ex weapon into ex+ rewards you 1 ingot, so you get a free limit break. Selling a maxed LD weapon nets you red nuggets as well.

Would you say it's worth it to max an Ex+ weapon if you have the burst then?

If I'm understanding right -- regular maxed EX gets you the power stones and the ex ability (i.e. Meteorain for Cloud)
selling the EX+ one would snag you the ability with additional perks (some upgraded version of meteorain)

Sorry if I'm not following entirely and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but you definitely want to max all their weapons, regardless of the strongest you have. The 15's, the 35's, the Bursts, EX's, LD's, etc. All of them provide invaluable buffs to the skill itself, and EX+ is basically REQUIRED to make old EX's useful, as they've been severely powercrept at this point and to some extend the + fixes it.

Fully unlocking said weapons also unlocks their Traits/Abilities as Default for the hero, so once you max it out (Assuming you have a better weapon to use of course) you can sell it.

Oh yeah; got the point about maxing the weapons. It's just the EX/EX+ thing confused me -- basically trying to figure out 'sell the EX before you plus it if you have the burst' or not.

Edit: Actually I think I get it; worthwhile to basically max out and realize the EX+ to get all the passives.

Assuming you have the red checkmark meaning that you have gained the passive. If you sell an EX by itself, i think you get the power orbs back. If you sell an EX+, you get 20 nuggets which lets your refine into an ingot.

Ah ok -- is there any difference in the passive with EX versus EX+ then?

Also, talk about working out a bit too perfectly. Just did a draw now which put me at 300 tokens, which is enough for Squall's LD.

That pull got me Cloud's burst; so, full deck of bursts for Cloud, Lightning, Squall. Only missing Squall's LD.

So at this point I can keep trying to pull for dupes of the other weapons to save orbs.. or call it a day, buy Squall's LD, then see what I can get off Golbez's banner.

Yes, the EX+ is a gigantic boost to EX's, and usually provides massive boost to the EX damage on top of other things including adding multi-hits to bypass the 99,999 damage limit and over-capping brave as well on some of them. Most old EX's, Y1 EX's like Cloud, Squall, etc, are complete trash without their EX+ bonuses. Some of the newer ones are perfectly useable EX's without + but still a lot better with. If you have the resources, pick your favorite hero and absolutely get their EX+ to max.

What exactly makes Bartz so solid? I like Golbez and he seems good; the only other ones (going on terms of favorites) that I'd be inclined towards are..uh, Ardyn basically.
