Anyone planning on pulling for Aerith, Auron or Lion? or is everyone just gonna do the Garnet/Cloud banner?

I'm currently torn between Garnet/Cloud and Serah...they are coming out around the same time I think (Serah is ch.9 with Irvine and Edgar). Hope it doesn't take all my gems again to max Garnet

I might try this comp since you had good luck with it (although my Papa is missing 2 breaks from his 15 so no fire for me Q_Q). I've been slowly clearing the LCs now that I desperately need a gem infusion lol.

I will for sure be going all out for Lillisette too. Not only is she a fantastic party member, she is top tier waifu. She's rated highly for her party utility even without all the fancy new stuff other characters have gotten. I honestly can't wait for her to show up. And I'm gonna pull for Alisae whether or not she's any good :D Although I find myself regretting that with Shantotto because she's 100% useless as a party member currently Not sure that changes with her 35, either...

I'm hoping they eventually add Aphmau, Arciela and Iroha. I could also see them adding Ayame, Semih Lafihna or Curilla. For guys it would probably be Tenzen, Luzaf, Ajido-Marujido, or Robel-Akbel. Needs more potatoes.
XI actually has a pretty rich character lineup to draw upon despite being an older MMO. It's too bad all of the XI and XIV characters besides Prishe, Papa and Lilisette so far have been completely underwhelming, though

Shantotto has massive buffs to useability waiting in the wings (I.e. her rage mechanic gets changed to BRV dmg instead of HP dmg). So she'll become better. Plus even shit tier chars will get buffed, look at Sazh ATM, he has been a joke for a long time, he just got his awakening in JP and he is now Selphie/Cait Sith levels of good now (I.e. best buffer).

Eventually, everyone gets their turn to shine in this game, play with your favorites.

Well, using only your favorites is a fine strategy until you can't clear LC because all your favorites are bad for a year, or don't synergize with each other in a party at all.

I think you do have to consider who is meta and what you need to fill out your team composition, at least a little bit. I don't care for Eiko as a FF character much, but my life is so, so much easier now that I have a good Eiko. Similarly, I haven't been able to use Shantotto for anything with good results, because her kit is awful right now. Everyone gets their time to shine, but it doesn't help you if all your MLBs are only good much later or contingent on pulling their EX weapon (which I hear is extremely difficult to do and I shouldn't expect to ever get one). Also doesn't help for things like Heretic quests if most of your favs are magic users (my issue) or phys users and then you're stuck trying to scrape together a halfway decent party of the type you don't like as much. Balance is good too.

Man fuck this Aerith co-op lol. Name of the game is "survive until summons". It's funny watching people re-learn that they can't just take breaks whenever they want and expect to survive.

Boss has 15k max brave with his buff. If your party all has 5001+ hp, it can't kill you with its AoE. Easy enough to heal back with Sylphs or an Aeris. I haven't seen a single target hp attack yet.

Sure, but there are some pitfalls. I started co op before anyone had Aerith leveled - she is a monster in her own co op of course, and makes it 100% easier. Party makeup counts for more than usual here - debuffers are great, but a team of too many supports will take too many turns. I've also had runs where Sylph didn't charge before it used Meteor, which generally wipes the party without an Aerith to heal up after Gyro Tail.

This co op isn't as hard as I initially imagined, but there's still going to be a lot of wipes when pugging due to general ignorance <_>
