Lost 3 medals on a team and almost died a lot so fuck doing CM
I guess this is what they meant by "a worthy foe" eh?
Well, BG ate my first post.. well, maybe not BG, but my internet. Anyway.
So this was a bitch, but I cleared with a mixture of V/A Team. I had access to Greg, but went with Bartz anyway, which in the end actually did no good since he died around the 60-70% mark, and I had to 4man it from there anyway.
Basically Turn 1, I went with Protectga, Wall, Draw Fire (P. Cecil), Shout, and Defend. I didn't get any of it off before the first Kick wrecked me as a whole, but thankfully Protectga and Wall went off, and he only auto'd on Turn 2 (hitting Cecil).. then followed it up with Kick on Turn 3, but that was after I was able to heal up a little bit with Hymm.
Pretty much, this fight..if you can set up your defenses early on Turn 1, you can manage the rest, especially if you Draw Fire on someone. I had Faris's Bow too, so I gave it to Cecil and put him on the backrow, basically neutering Bartz Quad Ranger move of his. The only thing that caused issues were his random Trueblade of Legend hits (which is how Bartz died, as he wasn't fully healed just yet and 4/5 hits hit him RIP)
But yeah, Mastered it..not doing CM because some chars still aren't 80 and I don't have the best of gear for em all.
Ended up tossing the Genji's Blade on Ramza, the bow on P. Cecil, and Bartz got off his couple of Lifesiphons + BSB before he died like a chump.
P. Cecil carried the fight though with Banishing Blade + Draw Fire + Knight's Charge.
just started this now, Jesus Christ
Best advice I can give is to have everyone defend on the first turn if they're not doing something critical like protect, wall, or power b/d. That alone made the difference between s/l fest and clear. Went 0/9 or 10 trying to have everyone do something first turn to going 1/1 once I had people defending.
Defending didn't do much for my set up so would have the Relm aoe-heal + regen RM used at the start to pre-cast to go off right after Monk Kick while setting up Protect + Shout + Wall.
Took several resets but finally when I got through I was able to win on first try with a lot of luck, though Tyro went down when he probably had 10-ish% hp left but, again, was lucky that was able to finish him before Wall wore off. Saint's Fall from Cecil was really tearing into him.
3 Medals lost, still made it whew.
Just started the Bartz fun, myself. Best attempt got him to 20%. Might tweak something if a couple more tries fail.
I'm not gonna bother until maint is over tomorrow. RW refresh please!
BTW this was my A-Team set up if you want a frame of reference.
Galuf - Lifesiphon/Full Charge - Unshaken Resolve SSB
Greg - Banishing Strike/Saints Cross
Ramza - PBD/Full Break - Shout
Agrias - Lifesiphon/Armor Break - Cleansing Strike
Y'shtola - Curaja/Protectga - Stoneskin II
RW -HotE
My mistake for that win was I should have had Protectga on Agrias and Armor Breakdown on Y'shtola. Would have made the start a whole lot easier. Also, HotE didn't do much. A medica RW would have made this a lot more bearable.
Man, yall are gonna hate me. 1/2 with the first run getting him down to 40% before I ran out of hones because RW was Rinoa BSB and shout wasn't up.
Spoiler: show
Granted, my good fortune on banner 1 helped a lot, and Greg carried the battle - especially when Bartz chose to use his Ranger quad hit. Faced 2 kicks to start the fight, but double cast procced on Lenna and ExDeath started with a near full bar so Protectga got up quick.
Damn, just realized Faris and Bartz had RM that did jack. That would have helped.
Having gotten him to his Haste phase a few times now, I'm beginning to feel like this fight is bugged and he actually has Haste on from the start. Either way, had my token sliver of health wipe and took a break. Somewhat tempted to not care about the CM since I know going in with my A-team would be a win once past the opening kick phase.
I was wondering the same thing about Bartz's Haste, tested it a few times with Greg's BSB command and it didn't seem to make any difference before he used Light of the Four.
i think it's more he just has a really high speed stat, so haste doesn't make much of a difference in practice.
gonna try the CM run again tonight, hopefully crash-free!
Just getting flashbacks of Vossler where he'd attack back to back to back to back even with his Haste stripped. :/
This fight is horse shit. I have nothing constructive to add. This fight is cancer, it's not fun or challenging. It's hoping RNG doesn't roll monk kick twice in a row (spoiler: it does) in order to set up defenses.
The hardest part of the fight shouldn't be closing your game 100 times hoping you're not 1 turn KOd before your team can even act. Who approves these fucking messes
I've had it roll Monk Kick as first and second action for 13 resets in a row. Even if all my characters are max bared at beginning he gets two off and it's a full wipe minus maybe 1 person if I'm lucky.
Edit: 23 Resets in a row now with 2x Monk Kick destroying everyone. On the few I get a pro up quick enough it still always kills Ramza. Is he just scripted to use Monk Kick until someone dies ._.
Edit3: came back with Eiko, ran with two WHM, changed RW from tyro BSB for proshell/extra breaks to AOE heal to use immediately. First kick negated by RW gave me time to put up buffs.
My advice to anyone who has shout and SS already, RW a good AOE heal to negate the first kick and give yourself time to get up your buffs. I had to run 2 WHM but Tyro had FB and cure so he doubled as support.
It's just an annoyingly high percentage until he hits 70%, then it unlocks other stuff.
Wow; this fight is annoying as fuck. I have great V synergy and it's still like pissing up a rope.
went back in with the setup i posted on the first page. 3/5 dead at the end because i badly mistimed refreshing galuf's invincibility, but lenna and faris were able to carry the last 15% or so. CM done, woo!
fuck youuuuuu
