No way this isn't their way of retaliating for the UK outing them for poisoning that ex-spy.

So this story of a Ukrainian journalist faking his own death is pretty wild. From what I've gathered:

Ukraine Secret Service learns of plot to murder journalist who had been critical of Putin

They learn he is planned to be killed in a terrorist act that would also target 29 others in a public place

Ukraine Secret Service and the journalist then fake his own murder so the terror attack would be called off. Then they make moves to arrest perpetrators.

During live televised press conference with police discussing the murder investigation, journalist shows up and tells everyone the story. Says he plans to die "when he is 96 and dancing on Putin's grave".
