you really got lost on that one
Me? Care to elaborate?
At this point, this is like watching siblings argue (Russia/Ukraine thing I mean) where the older brother has stolen the younger one's toy/ipad/whatever. Now that the little brother has fought back a bit and it's not going so well, it's the vindictive stage of breaking shit like "if I can't have it, nobody can!" in a tantrum. Ukraine didn't roll over like "Liberate me, Vladdy daddy!" so here we are.
Eh? I see exactly where Forte was coming from. The meme was comparing cries to go to war from liberals (against under Trump, for under Biden) and commenting on how wildly different the scenarios are. That seemed like an easy one.

I don't agree with Forte thinking all Russians need to die because I have family there and a lot of Russians aren't shitty people.
I do agree more needs to be done, because it's the same shit as it was during WWII. We can't just sit by forever while innocent people are dying and they're indignant because they know no one will act.
Mmm, yes, very isolationist. Surely, we should continue to let Putin just go to war and slaughter his neighbors however much he wants to. Also let's get rid of NATO right? Why go to war when someone goes to war with a friend? War only kills people yeah? So clearly surrendering is the outcome that saves the most lives. In fact, why is Ukraine fighting at all? It's their fault that their people are dying. War only takes. Good point. And I'm the insane one.
I'm sorry, I am clinically insane, because I am unable to watch the butchering of civilians and make that into a cute caricature of two brothers slap fighting. But yeah, people, land, and national sovereignty is totally equivalent to a toy/ipad/whatever.
I blame zoomer attention spans for this complete ability to trivialize fucking genocide.
Did I say that? If I gave that impression, let me correct it. No, all Russians do not need to die. A very specific subset of them need to die yesterday, but sadly the majority of the Russian people don't seem all too keen on letting that happen, so here we are. I feel for your family and I hope they can somehow escape that hell if at all possible. I can't imagine living in a country that willing to believe lies to justify the killing of innocents oh wait I live in one too fuck.
IGNORE THIS POST I READ THE ABOVE COMMENT VERY WRONG
If I believed that an out of shape nerd who has never fired a gun, much less HELD a gun before in his life, nor ever been to Europe and completely incapable of speaking anything remotely close to Ukranian/Russian could actually accomplish anything of value beyond getting in the way and getting killed, I would be there in a heartbeat. But let me also point out that the whole "If you care so much why aren't you fighting in da war" is such an absurd counter argument to "Hey, don't trivialize the death of thousands of innocent people and the displacement of millions by making it a cute caricature of two brothers fighting over physical possessions" that I really don't know what you expect out of this conversation.
Like... have you seen the mocking twitter posts about the >le reddit army giving away troop locations via unsecured cell phone tweets from the battlefield? I feel like someone who would be against inflaming the war would know at least as much.
EDIT: Also maybe this is a meme but... we don't... have gun libraries down here as far as I am aware... MAYBE in the buttfuck south but fuck that place.
The UN stepped in too late, true. While the UN is good at stopping/stalling a conflict, they have rapey problem.

I was also being 900% sarcastic about where to buy a gun. Just my tongue in cheek way of saying they're way easier to acquire in the States compared to Canada Land is all.
Yes the images and everything are a lot to take in, but this is what wars have been like forever, only now we have instant footage of damn near everything. We didn't see it before, but brutal shit has been happening for thousands of years. I'm not trying to justify it at all, it's fucking awful.
Nukes are a force equalizer. It's precisely because the Russian army is so overmatched by NATO that you would expect them to escalate to TNWs to close the gap.
We don't have enough TNWs to respond without escalating to strategic, which would guarantee retaliatory strikes.

Nukes are a two way street. Russia could have launched nukes already just based on the sanctions alone. Clearly, they have not. While I myself advocate a decapitation strike, and I recognize how irrational that sounds, there is a large gap between "what we are doing right now" and "what we can do totally", and I am of the opinion that there is more that can be done that would not invoke a nuclear response. And no, that doesn't involve a direct engagement either.
The point is to help out just enough so Russia DOES NOT retaliate with nukes.
