Hey they did hit a Russian fuel depot with helicopters a couple weeks ago, but yeah doesn't make sense to take that risk if it's not a high value target.

america has a 700 billion dollar military budget while russia has a 70 billion dollar military budget... which is actually a ton but it doesn't compare to america. shit ain't the same

most of the equipment ukraine is using in this war was bought or gifted from america and the training of how to use that equipment came/comes from american contractors

low-key it's even worse as the U.S. is at 780 bilion while Russia is at 60 billion. and maybe worse is the Russian budget is spread across 3.5 million personnel vs America's 2.1 million. your average Russian soldier/tank/cruiser/whatever has about 1/20th as much invested in it as its American peer. incomparable re efficacy.

there are good militaries out there but with the exception of China (and its 250 billionish defense budget) no other nation on earth is capable of maintaining one that is both cutting edge and large. the French, the Germans etc build some excellent hardware, but can only maintain about 200,000 active duty. even then it's becoming apparent Russia's millions would fail utterly if they had to face even a small modernized military.

That is also assuming Russia’s budget also goes towards the military. I bet quite a lot magically disappears.

oh yes. there is corruption in all militaries, but Russia has the kind of systematic corruption at every level of its military-industrial complex that one more typically finds in third world nations where the armed forces are seen primarily as means of personal aggrandizement, rather than effective warmaking. it has been said militaries reflect their nations and Putin's kleptocratic culture has certainly diminished the capabilities of the Russian army.
