Kremlin now warning Kyiv residents they better leave or else they're going to die from bombardment, essentially.
the heavy fighting on that front seems to be directed at an airbase outside of kyiv. if the russians take that airbase ukrainian air support will have to come from way further out at like lviv or something. so the russians have to take that target before they really begin on kyiv
the city of kherson in the south seems to be in the worst situation as apparently it's completely surrounded at this point, and kharkiv has been shelled to shit
This is Putin's whole game. We've been seeing the machinations up close for a decade and experts have suggested this is the case, but now it's finally receiving some mainstream attention. He wants to retake nearby former USSR countries, disrupt and cause chaos at NATO, sew chaos in the West. As a former KGB he's been highly successful at these special ops, but as a military leader he appears pretty incompetent.
"A new world is being born before our eyes. Russia's military operation in Ukraine has ushered in a new era"
"Countries in Russia’s line of sight after Ukraine, by this analysis, include “the Baltic States, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria”
“Russia is actively trying to keep NATO from consolidating behind a common cause,” said the document. “In Moscow, this strategy is called ‘the chaos tactic.’ In other words, the Kremlin will sow chaos within Europe by cooperating with Western Europe on security issues”
"the fall of Ukraine to the West in 2014 was seen by Putin as a major setback to a far wider strategy of regional Russian military and economic resurgence – a long war in which the recapture of Ukraine today is therefore just one step."
*Russian actors linked to Putin have attempted to influence elections in both the US and UK and elsewhere in Europe... And they have sponsored far-right movements and nurtured extreme right-wing... governments – including the Trump administration and Boris Johnson’s premiership.*

All I can say is UGH, there's one member of my church that has relatives over there, all I can do is pray for 'em. Luckily the Church pulled their missionaries out two months ago (Jan) and I didn't even know. If Putin keeps this up it could be WW3 pretty fast.
Yeah Russia's gonna be too poor to take the war anywhere else
