This is another reason why McDonalds only leases, and actually fully controls the sweeping majority of their franchises. The other reason is so they can get into the real estate business and reap fat profits, but still, when they want to turn off the machine, it turns off, unlike with other chains, who don't outright own the majority of their franchise locations.

I don't know what level of escalation this is... probably below chemical since I don't think Ukraine can even intercept non-hypersonic missiles, but this does feel like an escalation... and an incredible waste of money.

Putin is going to escalate until he's leveled Ukraine because if he doesn't he's fucking done and he knows it.

The dude is talking about denazifying countries because it's the only propaganda that would convince Russians it's the right thing to do. He was hoping for a Shock and Awe that would be over so quick the soldiers wouldn't have had time to question it. What he's finding out is the opposite: that he's a weak bully who uses force to get his way.

He's going to keep getting more violent. He'll throw everything he has in a desperate attempt to bomb them into submission.

I worry that Ukraine will surrender or accept a peace offering detrimental to them in exchange for an end to the shelling but... were I in Zelenski's position, I don't know if I could endure my people suffering and dying. I don't know which will fail first, Ukraine's spirit, or Putin's. Having lived through numerous... assaults on humanity from Putin and Russia, I am always worried that they will get away with it like they have so many times before. I really hope I'm wrong this time.

I think this time is a little different though. Ukraine may suffer losses but morale is incredibly low within the Russian ranks and Putin is under growing pressure to continue escalating or he faces usurpation.

Can't rule by fear if people aren't afraid and it's getting to the point where he's even telling overseas Russians they're traitors if they don't support his bullshit cause.

From Zelenskiy's point of view it's a matter of standing up to a bully and while cities are getting shelled the support of the international community is turning this conflict into a figurative David vs Goliath, with losses really looking worse on Russia than Ukraine. You expect, given Russia's past aggressions, that they would steamroll this thing but Putin is used to his bullshit machine working and I think we're at a point where it's obviously not going to.
