Would it though? Sure it would stop some of it but haven't we seen enough incidents where footage was fairly conclusively on the cops side and there was still a ton of outrage? A decent enough portion just get outrage at anything bad they see. And then if there is anything that wasn't 3000% obvious in the footage it absolutely had to go down that way you'd get a bunch more people back seat copping. They damned either way really

Releasing the footage by itself wouldn't stop it. All it'd do is what dasva said.

The only thing that would quell this (To an extent) would be to indict the police officer and lets the AG decide whether or not to charge. And even then you'll still have your skeptics. While charlotte is the most progressive city in N.C. there's a lot of old fashioned republicans nearby.

Add to that various high profile white murders getting taken in alive and, aside from the the fact different cops will behave differently in different situations, it more or less feeds into their belief of racism.

Still say things like, "Fuck the popo!" or "Nobody likes a snitch!" are contributing factors to this overall mess. And I dare say I've seen enough of both examples in media over the years that it's probably an unfortunate trope for a reason, and it isn't so much racist/out of touch directors helming whatever project(s). Even then, the grand prize of snitching winds up going to a white boy via Snowden, so it's not like the country as large is immune to overreaction though lacking in improper information.
