As weak as some certain episodes or plot points may be, this whole thing is worth it just to watch vader do vader things

Given the reception of this so far (I mean, minus all the awful racist shit), and the surge of love towards Hayden, I would be surprised if it isn't already in the works and they're just waiting to announce it at the right moment

Did people actually like Hayden as Anakin in Ep. 2 and 3?

Might be a hard sell because if its all Vader fucking dudes up it's gonna seem dark and like it's glorifying a villain, but any good guys can't canonically win, and they would detract from what people want to see, much like human drama in Godzilla movies.

I think people have come to terms that Hayden wasn't the issue. It was the writing. No one could have survived that script, and it's pretty telling that only Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman we're essentially the only non main stream/established cast that was able to go on and have a long career afterwards

    Spoiler: show

they really did not have to wait 5 episodes before clarifying Reva's backstory and motivation. Like imagine if we'd known from Episode 2 that her ultimate goal was to kill Vader - it would have added a lot of tension to every interaction she'd had with him from then until now. We could have seen her having a real internal struggle to pretend as though she's loyal to him and the Sith. Hell it would have helped in getting the audience to empathize with her over the course of the series, even root for her.

Also What exactly was Reva's plan? She just walked to Vader and tried to stab him? She didn't even do it when he was distracted pulling down the ship?

Legitimately terrible writing, not that Star Wars needs to be some amazing and eloquent work but even the themes and character motivations are either non existent or a mess. It’s fucking shocking that they put this out with those scripts in this condition. And these were supposed to be the improved scripts from the original concept.

I mean, she shouldn't have been remotely successful, since this is canon and Vader has to be alive and well (relatively speaking) for A New Hope and so on.

I think I disagree with this because there’s a lot of fun in hindsight. It provides a little rewatchability to go back and look through that lense when watching her now. I’m fine with the reveal where it was, and it sets up for the final part of the story. I think if that large of a character motivation and plot element was revealed at the start it distracts completely from the primary protagonist and the whole point of the show - Obiwan.

What “her plan was” is somewhat irrelevant now because it didn’t go as planned Obiwan was up to his shit and was able to escape.

I also doubt that her original plan was to just go and try to stab him in the back right after he force raged a starship apart. The story shows that just as much as Anakin was a novice tactician in the past he knew what third sister was up to the entire time so her plans didn’t much matter against him either.

Now I’m interested in what her actions are going to be - is she going to follow Obiwan to get revenge and prove herself to Vader somehow or is she going to try and team up with him or what’s her new purpose? It seems a bit ominous.

Episode 3 came out in 2005, and the kids and teens who the movies were made for back then (George Lucas' words, not mine), are the adults that are fueling the love of the prequels now. And the adults who bitched and moaned about them back then... are the same adults bitching and moaning about everything Star Wars now.

Also lol at Ker complaining about bad writing in Star Wars

Hayden was REALLY good in this episode. You could see his struggles and Obi-Wan's naivete so well without the dialogue even being necessary.

Really makes me wish the prequels would have been written this way with scenes like this in there to show us instead of tell us and with Hayden being there in the first movie.

Loved this episode, outside of the spoiler below. Vader was fucking LIT. LIT LIT. This show is either a high high or a low low.

    Spoiler: show
Was the plan for Reva to just attack Vader while he was staring into the sky? God damn whoever the writers are for this shit should never work again. Her character was really supposed to convince Vader after leaving Kenobi alone with TWO Stormtroopers in a closed bunker? Like what...

Also, it was plainly obvious to anyone with a shred of intelligence she was a youngling after the first episode.

Just give me a 3 season show called "Vader" where he hunts down Jedi who survived Order 66 and has to deal with the Inquisitors. Mix in some Padme comic stuff. Profit.

Vader just using the force was like watching a kung-fu master playing with a student.

Vader stuff would be good if they didn't make him look like an idiot also (like to balance it out?). Half the time it looks like he's just letting Obi-wan get away for shits and giggles. Do something cool then something stupid happens pretty much immediately after.

    This show is so confusing.

This fight was fucking amazing. If Reva's whole legacy is that she made Vader look that much more badass and terrifying then I'm extremely comfortable with it. Granted I really didn't have as much a problem with her (and the writing more or less) than a lot of people did. I go into Star Wars expecting a certain amount of camp.

I also don't think it's unreasonable to expect that Vader has complicated feelings about Obiwan which might lead to mild hesitation. The issue is they HAVE to portray Vader as so menacing and stoic that we'll probably never get any genuine conversation explaining if that was the case. It's really a shame that Clone Wars isn't expected "reading material" for the average SW viewer. I think it adds so much context to not just this show, but most of the new/extended SW stuff.

At this point, Vader shouldn't have hesitation -- isn't it pretty well established that he considers Anakin a separate person that he defeated.

The scene where he pulls down a starship was incredible.. ..but then he just stands there and lets the other ship that was apparently right behind that one get away??

You can hear him struggling on the first ship so it's not too out there that he didn't have enough in the tank for the surprise second ship.
