I experienced my first death last night and it wasn't by a mob or in PVP. I tried to hop over a dead tree outside of Everfall and was sent flying under the map. You can fall a long ways before hitting a kill wall.

They don't show the pop-up anymore, but you remain in the world for an additional 30 seconds or so after you log off.

I am stuck in my first queue. Had managed to log in and not afk out every day until I crashed doing some corrupted invasion (rifts/fates). Really bad timing too as I've just about moved on to starmetal and was ready to pump out tools, but my companies town has been under attack so been doing PvP missions for hours, and as soon as we got it down to 30% we took a break and instantly covenant came up and pushed it to 60% like 90min later. Wonder if they'll hit 100% before I'm able to get back on...lol

After playing for a day, I think this game is very mediocre. Not bad, but not a really shining gem either.

It plays very fluid, performance is solid, the UI doesn't get in your way. But on the other hand, the graphics and animation quality is just... mediocre, compared to other current AAA titles, Monster Hunter or PSO2: NGS, or the SE games.

Those different starter hamlets don't feel very different at all. Like the old FFXIV copypasta.
But there's some nice places around here and there.

So, compared to the gigantic hype (I have to admit, I got the game, because every single online person on my Steam friend list played it at the same time), it's quite underwhelming. On the other hand, it kept me busy for the day and I didn't feel bored while playing. So there's that, too.

It's a feels like a quite good, but also already quite old game.

I will definitely agree and say that the game is not as good as the hype suggests, but that's the power of Bezos's marketing teams I guess.

Overall I'm enjoying it for what it is: a true sandbox where your life skills are just as important as your combat ones. It isn't the exact same as Runescape, but it's as close as any game I've played (besides Albion) has gotten to emulating the same feeling of "go anywhere, do anything" and I can appreciate that.

I'm interested to see how good the end game expeditions and pvp become, and I'm interested to see how they handle future content additions. Adding additional weapons and life skills, new zones, new features like horses, etc. would be neat.

Business model could also be interesting. I've heard rumblings of an ESO style system where you can either buy DLC as it is added, or get it all if you subscribe (possibly tied to Prime). Guess we'll see.

I'm still not sure what weapons I want to focus on. I keep bouncing between spear, hammer, and hatchet. I may level musket to at least have a ranged on me at all times for pvp shenanigans.

What server should I roll on? Where the BG dudes at?

No sub. Just the usual buy and play. However I will not be surprised if a sub shows up one day for "extra fun" type of bullshit sell.
