I'm not sure about that. The Delos people (Ford, Charlotte, William, Theresa) frequently talked about a "bigger picture" than just the park, something that Delos had in mind that was much grander than just entertainment. One logical possibility of Delos' endgame would be the transferring of consciousness from the original body to a specifically constructed host, effectively creating immortality for the mind/consciousness. That handshake near the end between Ford and Bernard seemed very significant, and I'm wondering if we didn't witness the transfer (or perhaps a Ctrl+P) of consciousness to another. I don't know that Bernard had any dialogue after that, and was mostly shown as an observer, which is something "Ford" might do, watching his own assassination from his new body. That would allow Ford to effectively live on, and carry on with his work from a different, more permanent body that he had been preparing for this specific instance for years.
