There is a pretty damn good theory posted on reddit about the whole thing with Delos

Basically the episode is called "The Riddle of the Sphynx" which goes something like "What has one voice, becomes four footed, two footed, then three footed". The answer is Man going thru the stages of life. This applies to what happened with Delos because they were trying to shove an already developed mind into an adult host body which kept failing. They were trying to create man, but not by going thru the natural stages of life. Ford did tell Bernard to go make a new host, so it is assumed that Ford figured out how to do what Delos was doing properly which was that you had to put the mind inside of an infant host that can grow/age in order to allow it to grow naturally without hitting the cognitive plateau.

I think Arnold is the obvious choice imo. We've seen a whole lot of Bernard lately. I bet dollars to donuts half the time we think we're watching Bernard it's Arnold brought back.

Actually the very first scene of this season between Dolores and Bernard is guaranteed to be a flip from the scenes from season 1 between Dolores and Arnold.
That was probably Arnold newly created and Dolores was testing his cognitive abilities.

I went back and watched Season 1 Episode 1. It's crazy just how many different themes or major plot points are subtly referenced in just that one episode. I'd recommend going back and watching it.

Ford would have no reason to desire immortality, except through his work. S1 showed us that one of his actual major regrets was Arnold's suicide, so I could see him attempting give his old friend another life in a world more suited to his preference for hosts.
