Only cause the money isn't there like the Cubs. If they had the money to pour into the team, they would. As would every other team that's fan base uses that same logic of "we don't pour money into our teams like xx".

It's simple raging against the lack of a salary cap. The Indians being where they are is far more impressive at a sub-100M payroll than the Cubs at 185M.

    Not at all.
Cubs study pitching very well. They will not be shut out by the same pitching twice. also, that umpire and his fucked up strike zone will hopefully not be back. He set the tone early, at least 4 of those early 8 strikeouts were out of the zone

It's more the fact both teams benefited from years of tanking/poor play to get good draft picks that blossomed into star players. Yes the Cubs had the benefit of padding their pitching with high costs, but a bulk of their hitting arrived by the draft and trading of higher tier players to contenders for prospects throughout the years. With all the money coming into teams through all the tv deals, there shouldn't be as much of this cry of salary caps are needed. All teams have loads of money, thats not even counting the money the owners pocket from the revenue sharing instead of putting it back into their teams. Baseball is also one of the few sports where one player won't make a team, like it is in the other major sports.

I don't really think you can say all teams have loads of money when the Jays are 25% behind every other team by default thanks to the exchange rate. I'm sure there are American teams not drowning in dough too.

Jays are #11 in total payroll for this season actually.

The Brewers don't exactly have a huge regional sports network deal. There's huge gaps between haves and have-nots in baseball, always has been.

Yeah but now increase their current payroll by 25% because their owners' revenue is all in CAD.

I'm not sure what kind of point you're actually trying to make, and I also don't think you're understanding how exchange rates work.

Either way, the Jays are owned by Rogers, I sincerely doubt they care that much about the cost of payroll for a MLB team in the grand scheme of things. The Blue Jays have been floating in the top 10 for the last half decade.

Man, so the Indians 2nd and 3rd best starting pitchers this season are both hurt eh? Salazar and Carrasco? I haven't followed the Indians at all but it's crazy that their next two starters have 4+ ERAs, (Bauer and Tomlin) - and Bauer is still dealing with his cut finger, so who knows if he can even complete a start.

I'm not saying they don't spend money, I'm saying their money doesn't go as far as every other team's does. They also really only started spending money when Anthopoulos was hired. The first ~10 years Rogers owned the team they really were not throwing money around.

Whether his finger explodes again or not, I doubt Bauer is going very deep in this game.

His pitch count is already pretty high in the 3rd, 60-some odd pitches. I'll be impressed if he manages to go a full 5 innings at this rate

    Edit: 71 after 3 innings

Cleveland is going to go down 3-1 in the series and have a mysterious new 6'8" player come in, pitch all innings and bat 3rd for 3 games straight and help them make a remarkable WS comeback against the team with the best record in the league.
