Central getting spanked
Central getting spanked
Watching some of the quick, fancy shit Johnny does in this game, it's no wonder every team grinds him down hard during the regular season lol
Don Cherry coming to the game specifically to complain about a lack of effort and getting mad about PK Subban joking around with Connor McJesus.
Edit: Proceeds to praise Justin Bieber. I repeat my earlier sentiment, what fucking world are we living in?
He's not wrong though, people dont give a shit about the ASG because the players dont give a shit.
Well, yeah that's a given. But at this point to complain about it given that it's been like this for decades just seems incredibly redundant
At least I can thank Pronger for doing this yesterday: https://twitter.com/CRoumeliotis/sta...93254854627328
ppl don't give a shit about the ASG in any sport because it's generally boring, not because the players don't "care". The skills comp is usually better because guys are competing against each other more, but you don't want that in the actual game because you don't want to see people get hurt. This year even the skills comp sucked though.
The ASG Draft was the best thing for a minute but they were stupid and got rid of it. The divisional format is retarded as hell and even worse is needing a player from every team, so you get a bunch of guys who don't even deserve to be there.
I actually really like this 3 on 3, divisional tournament format. You do get to see a lot more ridiculous stuff with so much open ice. And I think it makes the games themselves more fun then the skills competition.
That being said, making something more entertaining when the bar was so low to start off isn't really difficult
WOW that McJesus goal
Edit: This game is a great example. Players are back checking, trying stretch passes, starting to really use their legs and speed. It's obviously not regular game level, but the effort level isn't completely flat either.
Edit2: A coach's challenge. Ovie just deliberately blocked a shot. There is some effort lol
Pretty entertaining last few mins.
McDonagh with the big right leg save on the open net. People using their bodies and actually going for it.
Can't believe a coach's challenge was the difference maker, lmao
Edit: OVIE ACTUALLY WON SOMETHING!!!... it took Crosby being on his line to do it, but he finally won something
The McDonagh save from the Ref cam. Ridiculous https://twitter.com/Sportsnet/status/825855036773191680
The highlight of the game for me was the Legend of Zelda SNES music by the organist during the final lol
They played a surprisingly large amount of Blink 182 and Weezer
Honestly nothing was going to top last years ASG with how badly the NHL and Betteman got trolled. Pity Scott retired this year to spend more time with his family.
IDK I kinda found the brief puck ragging to kill the clock in the final to be kinda amusing trolling ... watching sid pass it back to Ovi from the metros attack end to Ovi sitting right above the metros own goal line and the boos that quickly arose from fans who immediately realized what they were doing.... I kinda wish they would've done it for a good 30-60 seconds just to see what the NHLs response would've been
Nesterov is ready!
Markov and Desharnais should be back vs the Sabres
Patteryn Tomorrow or Thursday
Galchenyuk probably during the weekend
I found it surprising given all of Weezer and Blink's good music is over 10 years old and I just assumed being in Hollywood and making a big deal about this weekend being a big "blockbuster All-Star Weekend" like they were going for that they'd play a bunch of current chart toppers and popular artists and blah blah. Being a huge Weezer fan still and a moderate Blink fan from my younger days, I know Weezer and Blink are obviously synonymous with LA/California, but that doesn't change the fact that this was a national (even international if you include Canadians >_>) event and it's not much of a stretch to surmise that they'd play something more modern.
Honestly, you're making a big deal out of what I thought was a throwaway comment when I wrote it.
