I don't really think they did that poorly. What teams out there need or want a rental goalie? Of those teams, what could they really offer? If Tampa really tried to push for more those teams would just laugh and say "okay, we'll go get Miller."
Staggering those picks arguably makes them more valuable since this year's draft isn't supposed to be very deep.
Geez those are some crazy trades. Minnesota is stacked at center now with koivu, Staal and hanzal now. That's a massive overpay for hanzal and Ryan white. Man I feel bad for budaj, he pretty much saved that team when quick went down only to get traded as soon as he comes back.
Arizona retaining half of Hanzal's salary too. What a doozy of a trade
At the same time, his stock as a UFA just went up. When we traded him to the Jets a couple years ago, he was "done", and was banished to their AHL team, and since then he's been AHL fodder, dime a dozen goaltender barely worth league minimum (his contract this year was two-way). He's got some leverage back, he can reference what he did for the kings this year when he's looking for a new contract, and can probably get 1 mil on a one-way.
His stats this season are the same as Quick's over the past three seasons. I dunno if I'd call him the backup, he could legitimately be the starter.
Look at what happened to Martin Jones. From Quick's backup to starting for the Sharks. Kings defense can make a lot of goalies good. Except Zatkoff. No idea why his starts always sucked.
Martin Jones is good tho.
Arguably better than quick ever was. Except for that first playoff cup run.
He's been below average-average every year

that offside challenge that took 5 min:

And the league got it wrong lol. Arvidson jumped with his trailing foot off the ice first, therefor he was offside, and it was the deciding goal.
Fuck that, the goal should count. That kind of thing isn't what the Offside rule is meant to guard against.
Holy shit! What a save by Darling!
Also Wulfy, your boys did good today! Flames now 4 points back of Anaheim and Edmonton :3
I still think that offside challenges should require the puck to be on the line to be in the zone, and the players must completely clear the line to be in the zone. Call it the human error clause, similarly to the bullshit "intent to blow the whistle" rule, which is such a bullshit rule.
